I traded up from a boxster s to a 2007 Black Cab 2S. Wow - I thought I would like the 997 but not this much. Nothing against the Boxster, but the 997 just fits me like a glove. I will post pictures as soon as we get some good weather.

I knew I really liked the 911 when I drove the car on a test drive, but when I picked up the car in Germany and Pro drivers took us around Weissach test track in a Boxster S/996 Turbo/997s/Cayenne S is when it hit me how great the 997 really is compared to a Boxster. I must give that the Boxster didn't have Pasm, which probably didn't help, but the 997s is fantastic!

Enjoy your 997!

I also traded up from a Boxster...loved the Boxster, but I am enjoying the extra room in the 997 and the added power. Don't like the vario cam on the 997.

Welcome to the board! Most of the Boxters are made by a contract manufacturer in Finland. The 997's are all still made in Stuttgart, Germany at the Porsche plant. Don't know if that really matters much.

Actually ALL the Boxsters and Caymans are made in Finland.

Congrats on the new 997 - enjoy. Black cabs are slicker than cat****, as we say in the south.

Now this is true. In the beginning of the 987 there were cars made in Stuttgart as well. Had one.

Not trying to flame, but for 1/2 the price vs. a c2s cab, the base boxster is 90% as good, and better in some respects (mid engine, better balanced, sounds amazing, good bang for the buck, and IMO looks nicer - something odd about 997 cabs, the coupe is the look for 997's).

Just to clarify -

I had a Boxster S which is more like 2/3 to 3/4 the price of a Cab 2S depending on options. I liked the Boxster, but I think the 997 is better in every respect. As far as looks, I do think the coupe looks better, but I wanted a Cab.
