Default Multiple Color Not Available

I figured I would start a new thread since this involved more than one color. I just talked to my salesman who just got off the phone with Joe West from PCNA.

No formal bulletin has been released at this time but an internal memo from the factory to PCNA advised that all cars later than the Febuary build dates would not be able to select the following colors. Forest Green, Slate Grey, Cobalt Blue, and Dark Olive. And to advise customers to consider alternatives. He also said that some cancellations may free up enough product(paint) to allow some of those cars through the system.

Joe West? Who's Joe West? It's just a fictitious name for a person that doesn't return phone calls to customers....

<PCNA rant off>

Oh good grief, here we go again.

It's all BS. They have all the chemistry in the world in the factory unless some train or truck goofed over the past 3 months.

However, they have always stuck to an early deadline for 'paint to sample' colors, and perhaps they are moving these colors to 'paint to sample' status so they can bilk more out of any customer wanting it for '09.

If you WANT that color, and really LOVE that color, give up your slot and wait for a later production date.

Sometimes the factory makes moves no sane or rational human can

That's it, the 2009s are coming! (frivolous speculation on my part)

With the extremely low cost of non-standard paint colors on Porsches, I can only assume the factory can't afford to produce any paint on speculation lest they throw away one precious ounce.

They can do Estoril Blue... One of the cars that they showed online in the Exclusive section was painted Estoril Blue. Here it is:

Yep that is beautiful. I would take Estoril Blue in a heartbeat I just dont wanna pay 3-4K for paint when I would be perfectly happy with $690 paint that they advertise as an option but dont have. I want the Estoril Blue for$690!
Chances slim to none I would say!

Good one. The insatiable demand for forest green and dark olive has outstripped supply......BUT, if someone cancels you could get lucky.

Chris,

I missed that post unless it was a pm to In the Air. Thank You for reposting it. Certainly appears the none "premium" Cobalt Blue order will go through. Joe West had reconfirmed those colors listed above I wonder if he was just listing Cobalt as it used to be a premium color. Tell you if I paid for a premium color and then they made it a standard selection I'd be a bit upset.

Thanks again Tim,
