I am fully satisfied with my 997S cab. It took me over 9 months to get it through the ordering process, and another couple months shipping to California\ after I got it in Europe to drive for a month. I probably have more 911 time than most of you here. Over 250,000 in 911s. You should stick around the 997 for awhile and see how great it really is,--before you move on.

Totally agree with Edgy! There's so much car there, as you said, you'll probably never find it all.

This is my second 911. After the first I desided that I wanted a more "civilized car" for my daily driving experiance. It took only 2 years before I longed for a new 997. That said I don't know if going forward is the answer, I'm wondering if going backwards in time might do the trick. How about an old Speedster, or maybe an old A.M. Maybe even a classic Ferrari. I guess what I'm saying here is if I had a better understanding of where the art of the sports car has come from might make me appreciate the car I currently drive a little more. Hummmmm

The 997S is my 4th 911 and normally by now (41 months in) I would be thinking about the next one, but actually I still love this car and present plan is to keep it indefinitely. It is my daily driver (swapped with the 356 often) and that is what sets the 911 apart from so many other cars, it does make a great DD and is very reliable. Sure I'd perhaps like a Ferrari some day "just because" but its neither practical nor reasonably priced (including maintenance), and its more likely that I would add more Porsches.

Great Question. I don't have any dream car as I will just go ahead and get it.

My 997 club coupe and Cayenne Turbo are fulfilling all my driving needs. Next cars are likely their future variants.

May add a Ferrari when the kids grew up, but I promise myself that there will always be a 911 in my garage.

Haven't gotten there yet, and don't know that I'll get there anytime soon. The grin is still on my face and only getting bigger each day. I'd love to pair my 997S with a late-80's Carrera 3.2, though.

Honestly, the only car I could see me replacing the 911 with is an Elise or an air-cooled 911.

for me, modern day ferrari no question. it's got the romance/sex appeal that the 911 will never have nor aim to have since it really is just a diff type of car for a diff type of individual. i'd love a challenge stradale sans racing stripes lowered on a set of 20" BBS LMs.

it's cool to read up on the diverse opinions here as to what's next

I have always dreamed of having a 911 and I have one and I love it! I should not want for any other car but I am considering a GT3 or a Turbo. I almost bought an 05 Turbo S cab about 4 months ago but could not pull the trigger. To be truthful I have a certain amount of guilt about owning one anyway. There is a story to go with that statement.

Over a year ago I found a 06 997s that I wanted and looked at it for a few weeks and my wife told me to get it that I work hard and that I deserved it. So I do it. The next day I drive it to work and I find myself trying to park in a place that I will not be seen by anyone at work. As the day progressed I had the worst buyers remorse that I had ever had. I called the guy that I bought it from ( a local used car dealer that I know well) and he took it back. I felt better and I was over it. 6 months later my wife intercepted a message for me from the dealer telling me that the car was back and he thought I would be interested now. My wife called him and told him not to call me and that she was going to get it for my 50th birthday. She bought it and he parked it in his garage for 4 weeks. She surprised me with it on my birthday. What a great wife! She told me, "you can't take it back now". BTW the car was owned originally by the country music star Allen Jackson.

For me - keep the 911 and add a Dodge Charger to the small but delightful collection. Never did or would consider an italian exotic, beautiful but trouble!!! And as for the R8, it's cool but trying to be what I've already got.....

Another craving if you will is to keep the 997S and add the GTR as my DD! Now that would be cool.
