Aftermarket headers and mufflers will not throw a CEL...the 100 and some 200 cell cats will throw the light.

Tim, Based on that PSE sounds the only way to go until warranty is up anyway. I ordered my C4S today and after listening to PSE at the dealer I absolutely had to have it!
Tim,
PS I have had 2 issues of aftermarket installs that would void warranty. One was on my 2001 Harley Road King with aftermarket exhaust which voids warranty plus the bike was out of warranty on top of that. It had a engine issue that was about a $1500 repair and H.D. stepped up to the plate and covered me without question . I was very impressed. The second issue I had was a 2005 Tacoma 4x4 with a plow installed voiding the warranty. The alternator failed because it was packed with road salt and a sand shorting out causing the engine wiring harness to burnup. One year old with 22k miles and Toyota would not cover it based on the plow. The repair bill was $1900 Needless to say I will never buy Toyota again.

I had a Fabspeed system on my 996 and liked it, but there were times when I'd like to have been able to shut it off. I now have a C2S with a PSE, not only because of the switch, but also because I think that Porsche has more R&D-ability in the quest for the best overall sound.

Like I said, the TT that threw the CEL had Fabspeed cats and exhaust. Note: If I had kept the car, I'm certain I would have been able to resolve the issue between the installer, Fabspeed and myself. I would have only put the original stuff back on as a last resort - and it would have been step one in getting rid of the car.

Well dealers or companies simply can use those as get out of jail free cards. It says "voids warranty" it doesnt say anything about burden of proof being on the customer or the company. As fas as H.D. is concerned the bike was out of Warranty so it was just a classic case of backing there product I wish I could say the same for Toyota.

I have the PSE as factory installed. I later added the X51 headers. Love the sound, but then, having a cabriolet, the sound factor is a lot more pronounced than any coupe can provide you.

FWIW..........Champion Porsche in Pompano Beach told me the Tubi exhaust will have zero impact on factory warranty on any parts as long as the car is brought to them or one of their affiliates across the country. He said some independent dealers with an attitude may try to be cute about these sort of things but unless you live remotely, that's easily solved by taking your biz elsewhere.

I'm sure that you've covered this before (perhaps in dribs and drabs), so TIA.

I have the Tubi headers and mufflers on the car. I noticed instantly that the engine reved more freely after I had the headers and exhaust installed. I do not know how much hp/tq it added. I can tell you from the 5k-7k rpm the car sounds unbelievable.

I waited about a year after purchase to study all the systems and their sounds. AWE sounds different than fabspeed and tubi sounds different from either of those. I finally went the tubi because of the lower sounding growl with no resonance. I only have exhausts (no headers) and I love the sound. Its low when you want it to be a screams when you get on it. I never listened to PSE so I cant compare but tubi on my car is great.

Points I would concur your car sounded great For me, it is partially a cost issue, and partially an issue that I like to be able to turn it on and off As it is, I already have every cop on the street ogling me for issues...or, are they simply admiring the ride?...

Any of the mufflers out there Tubi, Fabspeed, AWE, PSE are not loud at all. Adding headers does not increase the loudness either. If you are just looking for a sound improvement just change out the stock mufflers. Again for the cost of PSE you can get Fabspeed or AWE headers and mufflers and increase the performance a little and get a better sound.

I am interested in hearing Dan's comments as well. I have a dealer added PSE on my C2S Cab and would consider X51 headers if there is appreicable performance and sound. ( I can tell you that the sound of PSE with the unplug mod in a Cab is just incredible delicious!)
