I have been trying to understand this painted rocker panel thing. I know that on the PorcheUSA website it is listed as an option to have painted rockers. My 2005 C2 has painted rocker panels and it was not a listed option. It came that way standard. Did they change this from 2006 onward?

It is standard for the rocker panels (which roll under the car a little) on a C2/C2S to come painted in the body color.
However, the rocker panels on the C4/C4S/Targa/Turbo (wide body) models are more flared (don't roll under the car as much as the C2/C2S panels). The stock configuration is that the lower part is painted black but you can opt to have it painted in the body color.
The differences between the C2/C4 rocker panel design is hard to detect in the attached pics from the configurator, but they are more noticable when you see them in person.
Had mine painted and have had no problems with chipping. The black although it blended with the black targa top looked cheap to me. Am much happier with painted rocker panels.
No problem, Joe, guess I should've elaborated. I meant it as a compliment. The thicker profile goes well with the wider hips and gives the car a beefier stance.
