what was the "all in " price Champion was quoting me me $1,200, including the alignment Seemed kinda steep, since the springs on many websites cost around $400

It is at least four hours worth of labor to install the springs, plus time on the alignment rack. I don't think $1200 is out of line.

$1200 to install springs and re-align the car is a good price.

This is extreme for DD. Its a track car. The springs will be fine for daily.

Ryan, there is a guy the DE's at Sebring with a white Cayman that looks like yours. It is lowered too. I have not spoke with him about his car and how it is lowered but it is very nice!

That's Guy Covington's car, an owner of Renn Haus. http://rennhaus.net/default.htm

Valid point. That said.....with roads as bad as some are up north, to what extent does lowering springs affect the life of the shocks? In other words, are they a factor at all or did the shocks wear out because of bad roads rather than lower springs?

sandwedge - any update on the springs? The more I read the posts, for $1,200, the springs seem like great bang for the buck. I priced out exhausts at $3,000...not sure its worth it. As for the S shifter, I saw too many mixed reviewed on here, so will probably stand pat on that Mod for now. The more I drive this car, the OEM shifter really is quite smooth..I wish I could somehow drive the SSK to compare.

Thanks

Sorry cole........haven't had time to bring my car to the shop yet and probably won't until next week. Honestly though....no matter what the verdict when I do bring it in it won't change my mind about the springs. Makes the car look so much better (imo) and I can't think of anything bad about dropping the center of gravity by 1.25".

As for the SSK, I think you're depriving yourself of more joy by passing on it. Not sure what people bitch about but maybe their's weren't installed right. If you like the OEM shifter why would you like it less with 35% less throw? That's exactly how mine is operating. Just like the OEM but shorter, crisper and more precise. Paid Eric at bumperplugs $199 for the kit and then $200 to Suncoast to install it RIGHT. A bargain and my favorite mod so far next to the Tubi.

Thanks sandwedge I needed the kick in teh ****, and will order the SSK now ha Plus, eric is having a sale today, so can save on the shipping.

As for the springs, I hear ya that it looks better, and 100% agree I am slightly concerned about the interactions with the PASM system, however, as it makes me nervous that it is an electronic set-up, and I dont want to screw it up by changing the springs.

Update: Talked to the service manager at Suncoast yesterday. Before I finished describing the problem he told me he knew what it was and to bring the car in. It's a 2 hour warranty repair which he'll explain on Wednesday when I meet him. I did mention my Champion springs which he said was unrelated and not an issue.

I'll report back after I get an explanation to what's going on.
