Think I saw another thread re: excessive oil usage or was it smoke on startup? Possibly new engine time. Bring it to Fairfield or trusted indie, have them check that all cylinders are firing, etc.

I nearly don't need an odometer. The car needs a quart of oil every 1000 miles. The car is at 19,000 miles today and its usage has been consistent from the very first 1000 miles. During my break in period in Europe (3200 miles) I put in 3 quarts over there.
Since the consumption rate is unusually high (something I would expect from an engine with about 125,000 miles on it) my service manager has been recording and putting in oil for me (their expense) during much of those visits every 1000 miles. They did a cylinder leak down check with results in the normal range. They also bore-scoped each of the cylinders, with nothing visible that could be contributing to the problem. The other day the dealer printed off a copy of the engine ignition history for me, with it reporting in 475.600 hrs (and 29700.000 kilometers distance) the following ignitions:
Range 1: 5938
Range 2: 235
Range 3: 55
Range 4: 1
Range 5: 0
Range 6: 0
At this time the engine is in a "monitoring mode" by my local dealer and by PCNA. They are not just ignoring it. During my discussions with PCNA's west coast representative he concurred that if all 997 engines used a lot of oil Porsche would not be concerned. Since this engine is clearly using oil outside the 'normal' range of most 997s they are watching it closely. "Break in" was per Porsche AG guidance.

Mine has about 5K miles so far. It used about 1.5 quarts of oil in the first 3K miles, and then it hasn't been using oil at all in the last 2K miles.
I guess my rings are seated...?

I used 1 quarts during the first 3K. Since my last oil change at 7.5K, my oil gauge show one bar down and I am at 15K now. It seems that it has not been using that much oil for the last 7.5K.

The amount of oil my car has been using is INCREASING, and yes, I did follow the break-in procedures to a "t".
Check out this alarming trend:

909 Miles per Quart, first 2,500 miles
3.00 Quarts: Oil Used 2nd 2,500 miles
833 Miles per Quart, 2nd 2,500 miles
3.70 Quarts: Oil Used 3rd 2,500 miles
676 Miles per Quart, 3rd 2,500 miles
