Nope.
The car has 15K miles on it and has most likely consumed this much from day 1. I gave it some time to settle down after the head gasket was replaced at 7K miles, but it never did. I just got tired of feeding it mass quantities of oil and took it up with the dealer a month ago.

I added about 1/4qt at 800 miles and not a drop since. Only have 2400 miles on my '07 997S though. Same with my '05 987S; just a little bit during break-in and then nothing other than regular changes in 22K miles.

just channged mine at 17500k after dealer change when I bought it CPO at 10k. Put 8 quarts in Mobil 0-40 and so far no need to add any after an additional 1k of mileage. Will probably add a quart between 2500 and 5k tho.

What kind of oil is recommended to keep in the garage in case the need arises to top her off? I live in Florida, so never really gets cold here Also, can I avoid going to Porsche dealer to get the oil? its quite far from my home, and I hoping I can get a high quality synthetic that is recommended from local auto parts store.

One more data point for everyone. I finally got a copy of the Porsche technical bulletin that states that using 1.5 litres of oil per 1000 kilometers is considered to be within their normal range, and is their maximum allowable consumption before they will take action.
Conversions for you:
1.5 litre is 1.585 US quarts (liquid)
1.5 litre is 50.721 ozs (US liquid)
Thus, if you are using 2.55 quarts of oil per 1000 miles, you are within their limit.
(or 129.35 ounces per 1000 miles; 12.92 ozs per 100 miles) or .26 quart per 100 miles.
So. The real question needs to be,--where did Porsche cook this up? Is the fox (fuchs) guarding this hen haus?
Bottom line number for the US--If you need a quart every 384 miles you are STILL within their acceptable consumption figure.

I guess you could say that's fuched up....really.
Do you find it odd that the TSB states that the engine should be off to check the oil? As far as I can tell, it MUST be off for the e-dipstick to work.
