I don't know if he got me on radar/laser because my equipment did not go off. He was just off to the side of the road and at the last second I saw the front of his car and gave the brakes a pretty good quick hit. I'm sure he saw the front of my car dive. I was going to ask him if he got me on radar but figured I'd take my warning and just be on my way.

I have had luck w/ my laser jammer saving me several times. You can't rely just on the V1 laser "detector" because if you are the intended target you're toast when it "detects".

None of this equipment is intended to replace your eyes and common sense. It's just an aid. I guess i'm just having a bad stretch of luck.
Is it fair to say the Jammer and detector have both contributed to you having not gotten pulled over?

The reason I ask....if the jammer and detector (which I assume are the same unit?) If you feel as if it has actually saved you from even one ticket, then, in my mind, they paid for themselves right then and there. And I will get one, that bein' the case!

So, in my definition of a good investment..."saved you from even one ticket", would you say buy one then?

Thanks
Dave

I never joke. Ever. I also don't like sarcasm. And I hate irony.

I would definitely say the jammer and detector have saved me over the last few years (had the same set up in my E55, 997S, and now TT). I think luck has been more a factor though LOL. had I gotten pulled over for some of the speeds (disclaimer: deserted road, no side street, other cars, etc.) I've done before my run of bad luck, I would have been taken straight to jail. So, I guess I should consider myself lucky. It seems the amount of police presence on the roads around here has increased by an order of magnitude. I'm seeing cops on roads I've NEVER seen them. I'm definitely spooked and it's taken quite a bit of fun out of "spirited" driving.

Like I said earlier the counter measures are NOT install and forget. Your eyes and common sense are still your best defense.

And yes, they are two separate units. You need a radar detector and laser jammer.

absolutely, police presence on long island has increased dramatically. I really believe its the homeland security $$$s being spent on speed enforcement, in addition to the "nanny state" political shift in nassau and suffolk counties.

Now of the four tickets, 171mph, did you take traffic school for any of them?

And, did you get pulled over at all in this 12 month period and ever talk your way out, or just get an oral warning?

The first order of business when anyone gets pulled over is to pass what I call "The A$$hole Test." Unless you flunk, you have a good chance of being let go if the officer isn't under pressure to generate tickets at that time. Looking back at my younger self when I angrier and hotter under the collar, I can reflect and see that I flunked the test sometimes. The advanced skill is to pass the test AND not say anything that would help the officer to incriminate you.

Sounds like we've travelled similar paths, Chris ! lol

The times when I really should'a been hauled off to the slammer, I've been fortunate...though, like you, it's a rare thing, and not anything really "unsafe", but, oh, sooo illegal!

The first ticket of my life, I got last month. I wasn't even thinking about my speed. Usually, if I speeding, I'm "thinking" and using other motorist, and thinking about my speed, slowing at hilltops, etc. But, I wasn't thinking at all, it just never occurred to me that I was really speeding, until...well, you know the rest of the story. And, lest anyone judge, believe it or not, I've finally gotten to the stage in life where you LIKE going slow. Suddenly I find myself being in no big hurry to get to where I'm going (that's my story anyway, and stickin' to it).

Anyway...sounds like a possible worthwhile investment to me now. Just one more tool...keeps me aware of what I'm doin' anyway! Thank you

Not sure what an "ORAL warning" is but I suspect I'd rather just get the ticket!

Maybe it is similar to a "personal breathalyzer" test done in the back seat of the patrol car!

Well that would depend on if it was a female officer and just how hot she might have been...

These are from a book called "Disorder in the American Courts" and are things people ACTUALLY said in court (allegedly)

ATTORNEY: ALL of your answers must be ORAL ok? What school did you go to? WITNESS: Oral.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ATTORNEY: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact? WITNESS: Gucci sweats and Reeboks.

Now let me pose another little question to you guys.
Now I'm a younger guy and am on a restricted license. Basically this means I can't drive with more than two others in the car, and also means ZERO alcohol in body. This makes sense as this program is truly geared towards teenagers who are underage anyways, and is trying to reinforce good habits on them (i.e. calling a cab) - I blew a 0.011 on the first time (which was forged by the officer to a 0.022 - complete fabrication) and had my car towed and held hostage at an impound lot (I basically stole the car back, as I refused to pay the 'special' fee and rather just paid the regular one in cash I slapped on the table and simply walked into the lot and took it) and the second time was followed from a bar several blocks being tailgated with his highbeams on, blew a 'warn' (different police force, different equipment?) and was handed another, second 12 hour suspension but no towing charge. Anyways, both times I was completely sober, and was not speeding they just saw my 'N' that I'm required to display. This came down shortly thereafter.
Basically, I'm going to be appealing it, but only then am I getting a 3 month suspension - and I consider this extreme as I am only losing it as I'm on a restricted license! Thankfully I'm coming off that in the next three months, and in my appeal I'll point that fact out. I'll also point out that I've been offered a job in car sales, and the manager of a local dealership who has been begging me to work for him is offering to write a letter for me that will, hopefully at the very least, allow me to buy a little more time.

Escort 8500 gave no warning before my "accelerating too quickly" ticket.

maybe a jammer would help . . .
