Burning Brakes
It's easier than you think. I just got 4 tickets inside of six months here in Florida:
One for "accelerating too quickly" in Coral Gables.
One for pulling out of a parking lot while buckling (i.e., not buckling before pulling out) in Ft Lauderdale.
One for speeding on my way to Sebring for a track event (ok, deserved that one, 97Mph)
One for doing 63 on a 8 lane highway that aparantly has a speed limit of 45 (in Boca Raton).
**** cat boy will probably say that I am getting carried away and need to cool my jets, but the reality is that my driving over the last 6 months is no different than my driving over the last 6 years. Last 6 months = just unlucky. It happens. There must have been a speeding ticket donut incentive i was unaware of.

Never mind that Porsches are safe cars with incredible brakes.
Never mind that I am a very attentive driver, a PCA instructor, and have not had an accident in decades.
Never mind that Germany has fewer accidents with no speed limits because of good drivers in good cars.
Never mind that two out of three cars on FL roads drive every day with no insurance.
The two speeding tickets were on empty roads. I was not weaving in and out of traffic or driving recklessly. Seems to me cops should consider the car's performance envelope and the context of the infraction. It's not like I was driving a 10 year old Kia at Vmax (about 70MPH or so), carelessly merging about, at the handling limits of the car, on a crowded highway, while talking on a cell phone . . . oh, wait, if I had been doing that I would not have gotten any tickets.
I sympathise, without reservation, with the guy in CA. All cops have something better to do, IMHO; they just choose not to do it.

Drifting
In many jurisdictions, do you realize how much homeland security money had been diverted for "routine" law enforcement activites - much of which has to do with traffic enforcement? Alot, since most parts of the country have zero terrorist threats, what else are they going to do with the funds?

How many of you people got nailed while using a quality radar/laser detector? Seems to me that if you want to drive fast , you need protection. V1, K40, or Passport SRX w/ shifters seems like better money spent than paying for tickets or attorney fees. Just my 2 cents.

They can always write you for "Display of speed" or one of the other racing statutes instead, which is usually far worse.
And sadly, radar detectors can't protect you from all tickets. ALWAYS hire a traffic lawyer. It's bs, but the scam--I mean system--is set up that you need to have a lawyer if you want to fight the ticket.

I hadn't gotten pulled over for speeding in about 20 years. Have gotten stopped 3 times in the last 4 months or so. The first one, 63 in a 40 (with no one around and a road that should have a 55 limit) was plead down to a failure to signal. I'll admit I got lucky here. As I mentioned there was no one around. Let's say I was doing far in excess of 63. The cop was kind and he "estimated" my speed from a difference. He even said he was going to be generous but knew I was doing much more than that.
A couple of weeks ago was in my company car volvo and got stopped for 70 in a 55. Have retained my lawyer and he's already postponed the trial. I actually think I have a chance to win this at trial as the circumstances make it very difficult to believe how the cop even saw me, whether he got me on radar or not.
Finally, got stopped last week (on that same "empty" road) doing 70 and a recently acquired Detective's PBA card was enough to get me a courtesy and he let me go.
Like others have said I have a pretty capable car, have track experience (not that the cop knows that), but most importantly I NEVER weave in and out of traffic, never pass anyone at a high rate of speed, and will also know that the road i'm on has no side streets where someone else can pull out in front of me.
I do have a V1 and laser jammer, but it doesn't always work.

On a rural, divided-4 lane, "straight-as-an-arrow", limited access road w/ zero other traffic because it's Sunday... guard-rails, no traffic, no businesses, no cross-roads, no children, no CIVILIZATION even...
imo...exceeding 55 mph is not a danger to myself or others. But, when I saw that cop 2' off my bumper, I KNEW, at that point, there was a ticket in my future (his was the only other car I'd seen in 20 miles!) No cop is gonna go outta his way, go to the effort of pullin' someone over in that kind of an environment, without having already made up his mind that he was gonna write a ticket... to pull someone over in that environment just to tell "warn" them, for safety's sake, would have made that cop look like an idiot, because, it's obvious to us both, this is not about safety.
I felt sorry for the kid, he wasn't even old enough to shave, and he's out there on a Sunday shift that no one else wants, getting paid peanuts, in the middle of nowhere, w/ a darn radar gun writing tickets. I admire him for working, but, my gosh, give me SOME break. Not even 1 mph.

How do you get pulled over 3x with radar and a jammer? Did it not go off? Are they using something that beats your equipment? I just got the new Escort 8500. I am waffling on the jammer because I don't know anyone with personal experience to tell me whether or not they are effective.

Radar detectors and laser jammers aren't cloaking devices, they are tools. How many times has Valentine alerted me that I just got clocked. As it says in the Valentine commercial it's situational awareness.

Three Wheelin'
I see it as a exercising one's right to face one's accusor, have them prove what the alledge and mitigrate/minimize their ability to profit from it (by that I mean the government).
Call me an anarchist.. or whatever you like. It's the people that don't exercise their rights that makes the system profitable for government and encourages their relatively draconian penalties.
Good luck.

I have had luck w/ my laser jammer saving me several times. You can't rely just on the V1 laser "detector" because if you are the intended target you're toast when it "detects".
None of this equipment is intended to replace your eyes and common sense. It's just an aid. I guess i'm just having a bad stretch of luck.
