Default Top Gear new series

We have episode #2 here tomorrow.

Featuring Audi R8 vs C2S

Here's a taster:

http://www.topgear.com/content/timet...adband_wm.html

Apparently, R8 is 2 seconds quicker around the track.

While I'm very much looking forward to watching this match, I don't understand why its not the R8 vs the 911 Turbo. Similar money, both AWD, slightly more similar HP (480 for turbo vs 420 for R8 vs 355 for the C2S). I know C&D did a comparison with the R8 coming out on top but I'm highly suspect of the results given 5th Gear's latest match up vs a C4S and a vid posted here of a C4 tip vs an R8.

Well, I guess the best comparison would be based on price vs price 'cause that's how most of us would make a decision. On that basis, R8 vs C4S is correct (both 4WD) as base models are within about £8,000.

Audi price gallops ahead when you add enormously expensive extras; BOSE sound, adjustable suspension, etc etc, quite quickly heading into Turbo territory.

Turbo would be comparable to upcoming R10.

In this Top Gear test (R8 vs C2S) I believe that they run on a wet track which will give the 4WD Audi at very least a 2 second edge.

I've driven both cars back-to-back; Audi is superb. But strictly on performance - as opposed to the differing deliveries of V8 vs Boxer6 - almost indistinguishable from my Carrera S.

You mean where's the rest of the clip?

Sorry, but that's all I have. I don't even know how to stream the TV show tomorrow onto the computer or I'd do that for you too.

I'll say it again. Why can't we get this show in the US? Do they have it out on DVD?

I notice that the BBC America is showing it on Mondays at 8 but not sure if they are new shows or just new to US...

I just checked the upcoming shows on BBC in Boston area - they include two 2007 shows (season opener with Hamster's return, and James driving the Veyron at Top Speed). So it looks like the current season IS being shown in the US but with a few weeks delay. Get your DVRs ready.

Great, I've got 7 episodes both 06 and 07 coming up in the next 2 weeks. Can't wait to find out about the new Vauxhall.

Well at least a C4S w/ the power kit would be a fairer test, but the R8 still won the last time that was done.

Maybe this will keep you pacified until the top gear version is available in full; it's in German but great to watch nonetheless...

Dave, I'm afraid those episodes you refer to (May's crash and Veyron) are not from this new series but the series before which aired here in spring.

Still, it's great to have Top Gear on BBCA. It is a must watch on Monday nights for my wife and I now!

Here are some great clips from the series opener - audio has a little lag, though. GT3RS, lambo superleggera and N24.
