Default body odor smell removal

Hey everyone,

been a long time lurker first time posting.

I'm on my second 911, this ones a 2005 997S. Had it delivered and bought it sight unseen but had it to a porsche dealer for inspection prior to purchase.

Here's the problem

Theres a VERY strong smell of BO when i turn on the air/heat. Is there an air filter for the air con system I could change? Does anyone have any tips or products they might suggest to remove the funk?

thx in advance

Yes there is a "cabin air filter" which could be changed.
Try a box or two of baking soda overnight a few times.
This sounds like the Seinfeld episode with BBO.

drive to a rough looking area of NYC and leave the keys in it making sure the local ruffian leaning in the doorway understands your intentions.

heh yea i loved that episode but living it is another thing altogether.
the thing is, it doesnt smell with the air off. I didnt notice it today (first day in it) until I had the windows up and the heat on. I was just like jerry, "what is that smell??"
anyway, think some fabreeze would work or should i change the cabin air filter. and is it an easy job or is it shop time?
I wonder if they'd warranty it heh...

I think the cabin filter is about a $60 part.
I would just take it to a dealer and have them change the filter as well as detail the snot out of the inside of your car!

change the cabin filter.

also use this (imported from germany):

and if it's really bad, try this, its like setting off a fresh scent "bug bomb" inside your car:

I've used the first item that you spray into the vents, but not the second one.

If the cabin filter does not improve things your evaporator drip pan could be clogged or not angled properly to let the condensation drain as it should, which can cause mold & the bad HVAC odor.

I have successfully conquered a funky AC smell by spraying Lysol into the air intake vent with the AC Fan set on high.
That should bring the Lysol deep enough into the system to kill whatever grunge is growing there.
Fabreeze will mask the odor for a while, but probably won't kill it permanently.

I recently bought a '97 Land Cruiser and had the same problem. A good vacuuming and an Arm & Hammer odor neutralizer for a few weeks coupled with a few douses of Febreeze on all carpeting really made a difference.

Default Beyond BO

Bring it to a detailing shop that has an ozone generator or fogger. These will remove any and all foul odor.

Most will first clean and extract the carpets to eliminate this. Next, the leather has to be cleaned from any oils, then conditioned. Seats retain the most odor from customers.

From that point, ozone foggers or generator will remove all the odor. It takes several hours for it to cover the entire interior.

This will remove the "Beyond BO" odor that even Jerry Seinfield would be happy with.

Good info, but his odor is coming from inside the HVAC system...will the ozonator help?

Yes it will.

You may try this yourself prior to full ozone treatment. Product works very well.

1Z makes some very good products, and this is one I like as well for stubborn odors.

Hahaha! This reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld when the valet guy got BO in Jerry's car and it wouldn't come out. Sorry, it might not be so funny to you... Hope you get it out.
