19" Wheel Tire Shortage???

I refuse to pay that so I get the same tire for a bit over $400. That's mounted and balanced. Then, I took the car to my dealer and told them it was so out of alignment when I got it that the tires were gone in (get this) 9,000 miles. When I bought the car, the salesman told me they would last 20K miles. I was also told I only needed to change the oil every 20k miles. Ahahahaha!
So, I made them align the car free. Remember, none of your 997's are aligned when you buy the car. It's aligned roughly in Germany....not just because of their roads, but because it's just not well aligned. Then, it's clamped down on a ship and the suspension is crunched until it is unloaded and put on a truck. Your dealer does not align the car any better than that.... so if your tires are worn unusually..... you should be able to get the alignment free.
Actually, if you tell them your steering wheel is not quite straight, and your car pulls one way.... they'll align it free anyway.

POINTS...my advice is to take it! Its a good deal seeing that finding a set of 19" tires for your 997 seems to require an act of god other than going to the dealer in the last 2 weeks. If he's gonna give you a set for the price of just the rears...I'd grab it.

And, I gotta agree with 911Dave. IMHO, 18's on a 997S look like

Since the rear pzero are on back order my dealer swap my car over to pilots for the cost of just the rears..Free front tires...

Got my michelins yesterday.Paid 1900.00 for four tires (front free) ,oil change and alignment.Dealer charged me for balancing and wheel weights and every other small item he could come up with.Truth be told the car runs like a dream.Maybe its the alignment but im lovin the feel of these tires...dont seem as loud either.Crazy thing my service guy told me the car had to have a full tank to align the wheels.Does that seem right?Something else i did with this visit was to insist that no wash be done on my car.I dont like the dirty rags they use on my heavily waxed paint!I bitched about my window screwing up periodically when the top goes up and down and service tech said new window motor on warranty next week. This is at champion in pompano.

I was able to find a set of Yokohama Advan Sports at Tirerack in 235/35 ZR and 295/30 ZR sizes. Shipped and on the way. Total cost was about $1400 including tax shipping. Their warehouses on the East Coast were empty on stock of almost everything so they had to ship the rears from Nevada to Maryland. Rears should arrive tomorrow so I'll let you know how things turn out. Anybody else with the Yokohama's or experience with brands other then PS2 and my OEM Continental Contisport2's?

19" Yokos mounted and balanced last Friday at local hi-performance tire shop. $140 including tax for all 4 tires and shop fees (what the heck shop fees did they pay since valves and stems were provided?) I did take my wheel caps with me 1st...I've seen them disappear to my friends BMW, Porsche's and Mercedes often enough and at $100 a set...I'd rather not be next.
