My prediciton though is that you'll miss the Pcar more than you enjoy the RS4. You'll sell the RS4, buy another 911 and a low priced winter beater. I give it a year.
I agree, I had a 05 S4 (not quite the RS4, but close) and I sat on the Audiworld forum listening to guys complain about how poorly they were treated by AOA and there dealers. I had 3 Audi's over 11 years (96 A4, 01 S4, 05 S4) and loved the cars, but I found the A4/S4/RS4 platform to be too small to be used as a 4 seater, the 997 doesn't have a useful rear seat either, but is more of a performer. I too needed a bigger car for kids, hauling stuff, and of course the odd snow day, so I bought a 03 Passat 4Motion. No performance at all (when compared to the Audi or Porsche) but having my kids in the car and going fast is stupid. The Passat was used and cost me very little, so having it sit on the road for the summer won't bother me.

Good luck with the RS4, on paper it sounds like a fun car, but I know that the Porsche itch is much greater then the Audi (R8 or RS4) and we will see a new P Car in your future.

Please post photo's of your RS4, I still love the looks of Audi.

Did you track the C2S and have since tracked the RS4? I was just at Lime Rock last weekend with the Audi club with sereral RS4s. The S4s were seriously disadvantaged. The RS4s were better but still disadvantaged. They both still understeer pretty bad and fight you all through the turn. That said, the RS4 is a thing of beauty inside and out. Build quality is off the charts and it truly is a 360 day car here in the Northeast. Good luck with you and see you back in a P-car soon.

I was recently at the dealer and really liked the look of the RS4. I have wondered out of praticality should I have bought one instead of a C2S?

The answer for me has always been stay with the C2S.

My wife has an 05 S4 which I drive frequently. The steering is numb and very heavy compared to the 911. If the RS4 had DSG I would be more interested until then I will keep the 911 and my daily A3 with DSG. The A3 is really a pretty entertaining car.

I thought about selling the C2S Cab and buying an RS4 Avant for all year round and a Beck Speedster for the summer months. At one point I had high hopes that Audi were going to bring in the RS4 Avant which would be a real sleeper if you debadged it. But sadly no one in this country buys station wagons so no joy there and no change on the car front.

Le Chef - I have an A4 2.0T Manual Quattro Avant and I love most things about it. I'm honestly not sure why they don't sell more of these. An RS4 Avant would be very very nice...but I'd still want my 911.

I'll let Chris answer for himself. but as far as all of the "you'll be sorry......you'll be back in a porsche in a year" commentary, i don't miss my 997 (and absolutely not my old 996) one bit now that i've had my RS4 since the beginning of April. remember, it's all about needs and wants, and right now (i suppose for Chris as well) the RS4 fits our needs best. would i love to have a Porsche 993 in my garage? ABSOLUTELY. do i want it as my daily driver, absolutely not. it's very difficult to compare the 997 with a RS4 but at the end of the day they're two very fantastic automobiles. probably best if i leave it at that!

race ya!

I don't care about the "haters"... It's really dumb. I've owned a 911 plus tons of other fun/fast cars (6 in the last year). To say, "I'll miss it" is kind of obvious. However I won't miss it when there is a foot of snow on the ground and it would be sitting in the garage. Different strokes for different folks... As for the about my impressions versus the C2S, I drove them back to back in the same day on the same roads. I think that's a pretty good comparison. Finally, I don't track expensive cars - if I do that, I'll get another Evo. The "it sucks on the track" argument doesn't apply - I use it for commuting, occasional winding roads, etc. You know, the real world.

Here are a few pics I took today after tinting it:

Enjoy that RS4 Chris - they're great cars and I had it in my differential before I bought my 911 (i.e. after I came to my senses). Just kidding of course man.
You'll be back.
