In the 997, in all seriousness, I'm rarely more than 10% over the limit. I used to have an F-150 that I often drove BELOW the limit. I'd just sit in the right lane, cruise, listen to the radio, kind of zone out.
thanks for putting that into perspective. yea, i've been meaning to do DE's for a while. but, see, it's not really a need-for-speed thing, it's just i don't like moving too slow. okay, okay, again, i've been growing up today since i frist posted.

Cool.
No, my hair is naturally equine/palamino.

(Actually there are no wigs in magistrate's court any more; but they are required in high court for judges and silks)

All of the above; and what's worse is that here traffic offences are classed as criminal offences! Can you believe that?

So, come on, we are all dying to know.

Do you take it easy on Porsche drivers who come in front of you?!

You know, I've never had one. Ever. No Ferraris, Lambos, Astons either. How weird is that? Range Rover's occasionally and 18-year-olds in hot Subaru/Mitsibushis.

Most often folks around here who speed/drink/drive un-licensed (and often all of these together) seem to pick an old Escort/Focus/Sierra or some sad old Vauxhall as their accomplice.

i always take extra care with fellow p-owners. in fact, i'm the guy who always waves to other p-drivers (even boxsters! ), knowing most don't care and won't wave back. my wife laughs each time they don't acknowledge, but i feel obligated.

I've stopped the full-on wave (cos I never got a response and I felt stupid) but I do wag a finger in a friendly waving but not too obvious kind of way - just in case!!

It seems like when I wave, that's the guy who pretends not to see me and doesn't wave. Then, when I say the hell with it and don't wave, that's the guy who does wave in a very animated and friendly way? Murphy's Law.

I choose to just keep waving.

Grow up? Stereotypes are similar to global statements in that they most clearly show the speaker to be dim witted. Ridiculous assumption that driving over the speed limit is immature always. Driving over the limit properly simply means that reaction times are less, focus demands are higher and safety buffers are smaller.

For me, driving faster than the speed limit NEVER means weaving in and out of traffic. It NEVER includes tailgating or passing in the lane next to other drivers at high speed. When the fast lane is empty and the road is clear ahead I could give a rat's *** what other people think of me, my vehicle choice, the way I drive. My only care is maximum safety for the situation at all times... and that goal met, I fly.

I just put 745 miles on the C4S in California. My observation from that trip is that there are MANY more dangerous drivers, doing hugely idiotic things, at the speed limit than there are drivers being idiotic at high speed. Example... speed limit 65 MPH, crowded major freeway, 9 out of 10 drivers are tailgating at the speed limit. Like something out of a NASCAR fantasy. Just stupidly avoidable and I personally pull out of line, drop back, and force the tailgaters to move off my tail. 5 out of 10 drivers drive immediately NEXT to the car in the other lane; either car swerves to avoid highway flotsom and CRUNCH! Stupidly avoidable. 9 out of 10 drivers will make an lane change, at speed w/out a signal, INTO the safety zone I keep between my car and the car in front of me AND THEN hit the brakes because they accelerated INTO the space. Stupidly avoidable and all at the speed limit. And the worst, 5 out of 10 drivers seem to speed in a 25MPH zone. Stupid and deadly. But, they might be sticklers for 65MPH in a 65 zone. Etc., etc.

Speeding, done safely, is simply driving over the speed limit. I am not ashamed by it nor am I allowing myself to be shamed for it... today, tomorrow, ever.

Edit: I prefer 85 to 90 MPH in 5th gear on an empty freeway.

Hey Dan, at least I know now how you got your name Edgy. 180mph! Now that's some serious driving. I drive at speed. What that means either I'm moving with traffic or slightly beyond it to get away from others who may eventually run into me. These days I keep my space by quickly accelerating to 110 mph when needed to keep my distance. I've been to PDE and will return for the Masters next year to further enhance my skills. Until then be safe everyone. Use your car wisely.

okay, truth be told, after my commute last night and this am, i guess i realized i do 'enjoy' driving fast, pushing the car (within reasonable means, safely and responsibly), and doing it in a car clearly designed for spirited driving. time to sign up for the next DE event and get that bug out . . . .

little side note: at lunch yesterday, saw a M-B M-Class parked next to me. the rear tires were so bald they were bubbling. that thing was literally an accident waiting to happen, worse for the unlucky fool around that thing when it does. unfortunately, i didn't have paper and a writing utensil to leave a note. it's idiots like these that really forces me to think i should drive 100% defensively and assume every car out there will hit me.

Not that it matters much...

I drive 45 miles one way to my Restaurant to conduct business each day. These 45 miles are along an Interstate in the South - of which there is a sparse population. I share the roda with the Big Rigs and a handful of passenger cars each day, travelling around 9AM and again at about 10PM. I have been doing this over a year now.

I have observed all of the traffic spots known by me at this point where I can expect the LE guys/gals to hang out waiting to catch those speeders.

I drive an Audi A4 for a number of reasons on a daily basis...something about a 4 door Sedan that doesn't peek the LE interest TOO much (fuel economy is another perk).

...and no, I won't go into details about my speed - but let's just say that I keep it sane for the conditions that are present each day. That being said, I feel that those that are in the Left lane gpoing 60 are more of a hazard than those of us going 80.

There really should be a re-examination of the speed limits on the Interstates.
