Default Cobalt Blue Variations....

It seems that every photo of Cobalt looks different. I know that the color changes with lighting, but many of the photos look like they were taken with a poalrizing filter. My dealer keeps telling me it's a vey bright, electric blue. In some photos the color doesn't seem to "pop." I'm trying to find a car to see in person, but it's not so easy. Anyone have pics that are accurate in different lighting conditions?

I believe that many Cobalt owners will tell you that the color actually does look different under various lighting conditions....I think this is one of the cool features about it.
Basalt also seems to take on different hues under varying lighting conditions.

I can vouch that Speed Yellow always looks very Yellow. Always.

Given my experinence of ordering my GT3 in cobalt blue and then changing at the last minute, I can tell you that there is a purplish hue that can come through. I was told originally by a friend of mine that works for Porsche AG that this was true, but only until I saw this, did I beilieve it. Okay, so, I changed my GT3 to Arctic Silver at the last minute, but now looking back at it all, I believe Cobalt Blue would have been a better color for my GT3, that is, it would have made that car POP! 20/20 hindsight but you need to be the judge, in sunlight its gorgeous!

Where in NJ are you located? Jack Daniels Porsche on Rte 17 has a cobalt C4S cab on display. I just checked their inventory and it is still there.

cobalt is a good color. Not much purple compared to my previous iris blue. It is a very medium blue that darken a little in the shade. I've enclosed some pictures.

Even if they did, you wouldn't be able to tell because your computer monitor may not display it the same way someone else's does. Monitors, like TVs, have different brightness settings and color renditions. Aside from the video settings, different monitor technologies (LCD vs. CRT) will render the pictures different as well.

Long story short, viewing pictures on your computer is not a reliable way to evaluate colors.

Agreed.

I remember when the e46 M3 came out; the launch color was laguna seca blue. All over the Internet, it was called "smurf blue" because the camera flash and lighting didn't do the paint justice. It wasn't until I saw the car in person that I really appreciated just how good a color it was.

Long story short, my new 997S is Cobalt Blue . Waiting for the boat now, I think.

That's sharp Jeff.
But what would Mr. Magoo need a GT3 for?

Here you go. Same day, starts at around 13.00 and ends in the afternoon around 17.00 hrs. (so you get the full sunshine to dusk range) and some indoor shoots. Its from my detailing project so car is in good shape. There are no filters or no funky lighting options just point and shoot. I think it gives you a good idea.

Color is a very personal thing, some have strong opinions about it, some dont. To me, its whatever turns you on. This one in particular did it for me.

Very nice. I love the color. Now I have to determine what's more important - the interior or the exterior. The interior I've chosen doesn't really work with the cobalt.

Cobalt is anything but bright and electric, even in bright direct sunlight. It's more of a medium blue that goes to dark blue in the right lighting.

The photo is in direct sunlight (no polarizer, Nikon D200 with 18-200mm ED VR lens). Avatar is typical "dark mode".

If i was ordering new, I would have got it with Sand Beige... Or if I was going to wait for a bit longer, perhaps Natural brown. Do a search someone has posted a very fully loaded cobalt convertible with natural brown, nice high res pictures... I think it works very nice...
