Red Brake Calipers

Red Brake Calipers
I just picked up a C2 Cab Saturday and it has the red brake caliper option. I know that I should know the answer to this, but give me a break please. Does this mean that it is the same brake system as the S model, or is it just the calipers that are painted red?

That's an expensive option for just paint. But it makes sense- if it was a cheap option, I'd be willing to bet a bunch of potential buyers would opt for it on their C2.

Well it cost $1,690, so I kind of think, or at least hope it is more than regular calipers painted red, but according to the window sticker it is just calipers, and nothing else.

Nope. It's only paint.
Porsche doesn't want everyone getting 'red calipers' for their non "S" coupe/cabriolets.
For the extra $10+k on the "S" you get larger brakes, red calipers, 3.8L engine, 19", PASM, Xenon's and different clutch... Not bad a deal considering what you get.
...makes 1700 for the red calipers silly.

David, what you could do is to find out the part # for your brakes system(caliper and rotors) with your vin. That way, you will know for sure if it's 997S brake system or not.
Just my two cents.

The regular NON S Carrera is more car than most people will ever need or use IMHO. Xenons are great, 19" is only for bling factor and PASM has its issues, 3.6 is reputed to have a more linear power delivery, whatever that means, and please explain the difference in clutches.
