Very nice, I got a soft spot for M3's... was close to selling my 2000 3-series coupe to upgrade to the M3.

I procrastinated sort of by accident and wound up with the 997s maybe I'll buy one someday. I do like the styling even though its a bit Bangle-ized.

Nice wheels btw, those BBS?

And if the car stickers at the projected base of $55K, it will be a hell of a value. When you throw in 4 years of free maintenance, it is even a better value. Moreover, I believe that BMW did a good job designing the car. Of course it's not liked by everyone, but show me a car that is. Even the 997's design has its share of critics.

I previously had an e36 and e46 m3. They are great cars but they are no 911. I'm the sure the M3 will have great performance numbers but it will always feel like a very fast coupe not a sports car. Everything about the 911 says sports car to me. I completely agree with one of the previous posters who said you don't realize how heavy the m3 is until you drive something like the 911 that is lighter.

I had an 02e46 M3 and loved it...was sad to see it go when I got my 05 997. It was a good car, loved the design and could do all I need or was able to do as a driver with my current skill set. However I am happy with my trade up...that said i still may have to go drive and yes get one later on but not in 08 when they 1st come out. I'll let the few BMW bugs get fixed by then and pickup a CPO one in ohh late 08 early 09 maybe. Or there's always the ONLY way and BEST way to pick up any German/European car....European Delivery!

Weight was the biggest problem with the evolution of the M3 from the E36 to the E46 chassis. I never saw an E46 get a TTOD at BMWCCA autocross; it was almost always an E36 chassis, and if not that, then an E30 or E21 chassis race car. The E46's extra power could never make up for all its weight on a slow speed course.
BMW CCA San Diego region. E46 M3 TTOD almost every event in 2005. Good friend of mine. Silver Grey coupe. Now sold but he was fast. also first place at Octoberfest national cca autocross when it was at Pasadena.

No matter what the car's sticker price will be, the dealers will mark it up $15k minimum. They did this with the e46 in the Bay Area and I'm expecting nothing less. My friend who bought a 335 chose every option and it came to $52k so again I'm expecting this baby to be further north of that number even before the "market adjustment" via the dealership.

It's been several years since I've liked anything out of the automotive design team of BMW. But I definitely like the new M3. It's about time something exciting came out from BMW.

My last BMW car was a modified 2001 e39 M5. Last bike was a 2004 Boxer Cup Replika, Production #3 of 300.

394.7 rwhp.

Ronin,

Looks like the M5 I had, except I kept mine stock. I still have my BMW R1150R...before that the Ducati 999. Ride track much?

Which is even MORE reason to wait out the inital M3 splurg and pick up a nice 08 model in late 08 early 09 after the depreciation has been paid by someone else and it properly broken in; with a CPO of course. That's what I did with my 02 e46 M3 which I got in 05 for about 15k-18k off MSRP price new. But to each his own.

I bought my 02 M3 from United in Atlanta (owned my Penske). They said that since they are a publicly traded company they cannot sell for over sticker. So while Global was asking for $10k over sticker and had cars sitting on the lot, United sold them at sticker as fast as they could get them.
