MHC....read the thread. It's there.

And no one is saying this is absolute truth 100% going to happen, etc....it's just in print, which was odd, and who really knows until the product hits the ground.

Keep in mind that there will almost certainly be a price increase as well.

It's totally typical that there would be a HP increase mid model run. Same happened with 996.

If Porsche does facelift the 997 in '08, the more interesting question is how would it affect the current 997 TT/GT3/RS?

The all-new '07 TT/GT3/RS just rolled off the production line with current front/tail light designs. If Porsche facelifts the 997 in '08, would the '08 TT/GT3/RS remains the current look or with the new facelift?

If I were to just took delivery of a TT/GT3/RS, it might not be my best interest to see the 997 receives a new facelift just within a few months in '08...?

Regards,

Actually,

With regard to the GT3/RS it would be the best thing that could happen (unless you were on the waiting list), because it would virtually assure that there would be no 08 GT3/RS.

It makes more sense that the facelift would be for MY2009, since the 997 roll-out isn't complete yet...still have the Turbo Cab and GT2 to go for 2008...

But there's no reason the 'old' bodystyle GT2/GT3/GT3RS/Turbo couldn't carry on along side the facelifted C2/C4/C2S/C4S...nor is there any reason the revised taillights and bumper couldn't be applied across the range for 2008 (the GTs and Turbos have unique front fascias anyway)...

We'll see...

This is the best arguement I've heard to date.

This is MY opinion, and again, what do I know right? But it would seem to me if I wanted to try and speculate Porsche's direction and future; one only has to look at their past. And their not so distant past too.

I'm willing to bet $1,000 the face lift is due out as a '09 MY released in 08.

Shoot, Porsche might release the Direct Fuel Injection as a 08MY, but the Face Lift later on....

Actually I'm wondering HOW many of these "Face Lift, PDK, ect MY08/09/ 998, FLYING SAUCER "S" MODEL threads are gonna come about on this forum this week.

What's in the water lately?

They have done it before. Yet coming out with a TT cab then a facelift C* 6 months later with Rear LED and bluetooth? That would p* off a lot of TT owners.

Since Porsche is running out of numbers I wouldn't necessarily count on the facelift to the 997 in MY09 to generate an entirely new model number like "998." Anyone know what project number has been assigned to the Panamera? 999? Maybe Porsche will break from the 9XX numbers and with such a new direction,--a 4-door coupe/sedan, begin introducing a 1XXX project number.

As I've been saying all along,--the facelift for the 911 will come in MY09,--to retain interest and sales on the 911 line when the Panamera comes out.
