Default steering wheel custom wrap

I just redid my steering wheel to make it thicker and add some contrasting perforated leather. I know some of you guys were thinking of doing this.
Tell me what you think. It is not as perfect as the techart one but at least it didnt cost me 1400.

It looks a lot better than the first time you got it back. Was that weird line on the center part of the wheel always there? How much did it cost, and how long did you go without a steering wheel for?

yeah, the wierd line has been talked about before. I am pretty sure all of the non-full leather steering wheels have them or will develop them over time. A few have tried to replace under warranty but porsche refused. I never really notice it except for in pictures.

It's the air bag "opening" - the seam in the airbag cover - to keep you from getting a Porsche crest in the face when the bag deploys. All steering wheels have it, or something similar.
It's hardly visible - unless you're using flash photography.

It cost $450, and took him 2 days to redo the wheel.

I think it is a very good idea and looks great. The stock wheel is definitely too thin and a thicker one should be standard.

Especially stock MFSW is DESPERATE. What were they thinking. I am still looking for an alternative since I do not want to pay Techart 3000 dollars for a steering wheel.

I don't understand the upside of a chubby wheel.
Drove a TecArt car in Germany and hated it.

A light touch on the wheel is better for feeling what the car is dong...no griping of the wheel required.

My 2¢

If anyone is interested I can get him to do one and send it out as soon as I get your original.
He knows nothing about the internet, but was very excited when I showed him these forums.

yeah you can do any color leather perf'd, suede, any color stitching.
it came out better because he actually had the same leather perforated so it matched, rather than trying to find a leather that was already perforated.
