Default Basalt Black v. Midnight Blue on a Targa 4S

OK, trying to narrow down my color choices on a Targa 4S. Interior will definitely be Sand/Black combo. Which of these two colors do you guys like more for the exterior, and why? I realize that the colors are somewhat similar in that they are both dark, metallic colors. Any thoughts?

Both are very handsome colors. What do you want? Blue or Black?

I think with the Sand/Black combo the Bassalt will look the best. That and the fact that I personally prefer Bassalt over Midnight- I think when it's clean it looks INCREDIBLE!!

that is the issue, which of the two i want, i like both. i realize that basalt matches the black portion of the sand/black combo, but i think midnight also works as well. the porsche website features the T4S in the midnight - sand/black scheme, so i know it works. keep the responses coming. wondering if i would get tired of basalt faster than midnight?

Given that you like both, I will pick midnight as it is less common.

I have a Cayenne S that is basalt & havana (sand colored) and its beautiful. Also to my surprise it doesn't show dirt like I thought it would. Just enough metallic to hide it. Only issue is that the light interior rugs show dirt. Good luck.

sorry, I didn't see that you wanted to do a black/sand interior....I think that's a pretty easy decision...go with basalt....I really think it would look odd to have black/sand with midnight blue

that's a gorgeous pic of your midnight CS, the paint looks very rich. Not sure i agree that midnight doesn't work with the sand/black interior, as Porsche itself seems to think the combo works, but i understand how some people would think it doesn't work. At night, or in dim-lighting situations, midnight looks almost black.

Midnight blue looked gorgeous on the 996 Targa- goes well with the glass roof- but I'm not as sure about it on the 997 because it may clash with the aluminum strip. That strip is a pretty prominent visual feature on this model. So far based on three different colors I've seen in person, whether I like a color or not on the Coupe is not a good predictor of whether I will like it or not on the Targa. A dealer nearby (Rockville Porsche Audi) has a midnight blue Targa on order which I will check out when it arrives in a week or two.

I would hesitate to pick a color for the Targa without having seen it in person first. But having seen neither, if I had to choose, I would go with basalt black. My opinion may change after I see it though.

I was looking for a car in Europe for about a month. 80% of the cars offered are black. So I decided I wouldnt buy one. There are lots of black ones out there, too many... Get the blue. Its a very desirable combo... Blue on sand. And the black half dash will look just fine.
Just my thoughts...

Blue is unique. In club tours mine is one of the few Midnight Blues. The other drivers are coming over asking about the color. I don't see them asking the black and silver car owners about their car colors....GR
