Question Meteor Grey 997S - Sport Design or Carrera Classic wheel?

Greetings,

Long story short, I am about to pull the trigger on a 07 997S coupe. The car is Meteor Grey and will arrive to the dealer in a few days (thus I can't see the car in person yet).

I am told that the car came with the 19" Sport Design wheels, but the dealer said they can swap them with 19" Carrera Classic wheels.

Since I can't see the car yet, I have a hard time deciding which wheels to go with the Meteor Grey...

Have anyone seen the Meteor Grey with 19" Sport Design wheels, do they look busy on the car? Better yet, anyone have pictures to compare them?

Thanks, with best regards,
- Alex.

Check out the site of wheelenhancement.com, they have several pics.
I would keep the Sport Designs, although I like the classics as well. But best of all, since the car is Grey, I would consider the Carrera Sports, which come in a slightly gunmetal greyish center (10 spoke - not as busy as the Sport Designs). Check the above sites for pictures and examples, its quite a resource...

Carrera Sport are AWESOME looking wheels. Here is a link to a Wheel Enhancement pic of Carrera Sport wheels on a Seal Gray 997. Not quite the same as Meteor, but close.

Default wheel demo pics

I had the same dilemma. My 997S came with Sport Designs, but I like Carrera Classics. Solution: get both!

Attached are photos. My car is Atlas Gray (rather than Meteor Gray), but this should give you an idea of how the wheels will look on your car. There is also a Slate Gray with Carrera Classics thrown in for good measure!

Wow, thanks mountainmaniac for the photos, that is exactly what I am looking for

Both wheels look gook, but the Sport Design goes surprisingly great with your car. Are the Sport Design easy to clean?

I thought I liked the Carrera Classic better, but after seeing your pictures I might go with the Sport Design....

With best regards,
- Alex.

P.S. Dealer said my car will arrive tomorrow!

The classics looks much better in my eyes. I had the choice also so I choose the classic.I thougt then and still think the sport design is to complicated in the design. The classics is also much easier to keep clean and nice.

If you want more spokes, ask your dealer if you can get the GT3 wheel if fits. I think that wheel is the best looking wheel for the 997.

d@mn! Toomey, your GT silver w/XRR still as stunning as ever, like liquid alloy.

Hey Alex, you can't go wrong with either of them. Here are couple good pics of Meteor with C/Classics:

me personally, if I had to rank them -
C/Classics.........100
C/Sport.............100
Sport Design......95

I totally agree with your votes Paul.

As people says, all choices are excellent. It comes down to your personal taste. The best choice is what you think is best, not what all of us besserwisser think.

Good luck with your new car.

Axho, to answer your question: yes, the Sport Design is tough to clean. Seems like there are 3 times as many spokes, and they are smaller. Lots of nooks & crannies.

But as some people have pointed out in other threads, pictures don't do the Sport Design justice. They look very unique in person. So much so that my neighbor in gawking at my car said, "Those wheels are so cool!" You don't see the SD that much. That didn't stop me from buying a set of Carrera Classics as well, though.

Frankly, I think you'll be happy with either decision. Maybe you could convince the dealer to give you a $$$ credit if you take the SD's.
