I had my car (06 C2S with only 3800 miles) in the shop Monday for lowering. I phoned at 5PM to see if the car is ready and was told that a error was coming up with the suspension (PASM). The shop tried for half a day to try and clear it and then decided to send it to the local Porsche Dealer. The Dealer told them that the front shocks where toast and since the car is lowered that there was no coverage under the warranty. I am now faced with replacing the front shocks at my cost.

I have not had any problems with the car prior to this.

Has anyone had this problem, if so what caused the failure? Was it the installer? Was it just a coincidence?

Is it worth trying to do lower it again or am I going to have a lot of problems?

 

what springs did u use? did you check they were compatible with PASM?

 

I had mine lowered on H&R springs at the dealer. Before they installed the springs I had them check the original suspension for any issues that would be covered under warranty.

PASM works fine.

 

I too have had no problems with about 10,000 miles on my H&R springs.

 

Something sounds wrong. It's always a risk that a lowered car on OE shocks and struts can result in premature wear of the dampers. Having just bought an '06 PASM equiped 997S, I have no experience yet, other than what I have read here. Of course, only time and miles will ultimately reveal any problems. But, in your case, I see no way the installation alone could have ruined the shocks.

 

The springs are Eibach, and are compatible with PASM. The shop has done a number of 997's and are as surprised as I am that it is not working. H&R and Eibach are the only two spring manufactures for Porshce. Techart, Gimbella, etc are all repacked versions made by the two.

 

WHAT FAULT CODE IS COMING UP for the pasm i need the excat number

 

I am calling the shop to get the info.

 

Codes are 000C front left shock absorber open circuit and 000D front right shock absorber open circuit

 

Did they hook damage the little wires?

 

Whats also strange about this is how did both dampers go bad at the same time??

My gut feeling is installer related, maybe a damaged wire or plug.

 

Sounds like a cluster f at the shop, need to be careful with the pasm system.

 

The part that I have a hard time with is that the car hasn't been driven, and there has never been a problem (that I was aware of) with the suspension. I am now concerned that PCNA has a note on this car that there is a problem.

I should have the car back to factory later today and we will find out if there is a problem with it then.
