Default 997 Cold Air Kit

Has anyone installed the Fabspeed Cold Air Kit? Reportedly a 10 hp gain, little throatier exhaust etc. Makes sense letting more air in...

Do a search. There're many threads on this topic. I have no personal experience with the Fabspeed intake. My C2 has an EVO intake which I've used it for over a year with no CEL issues.

The general consensus is better sound, no more power. There is a thread on another forum that has a DIY. Look towards the end of the thread and you'll even find sources for the colored silicone hoses (for about 1/4 the price of the Fabspeed kit).

I agree with Rick, more sound, no more power. I tried one on my last 997 and that was my experience.

The Evo air intake is better value for your money, gives better sound and increased HP. Combine this with the Revo upgrade, PSE, and now you have something. I'm not saying what you bought was a waste, but there are better ways of spending your money.
Just my opinion.

I've had the Fabspeed cold air kit on for 2 years, no problems. Better (more) sound; don't expect any extra performance.

But yeah, I like the EVO--fits well, does it jobs so I'm pleased

The $12 home depot kit works just as well. More noise no more power!! Just removed mine to check, Fine for 6 months, so far!!! Black hose more understated, a little more difficult to install than softer silicone!

-More intake noise
-Looks good by dressing the engine bay
-Great quality material with appropriate angles and fit
-Absolutely NO power gains

Price $495? That's a $100 off...I think that's fair, the air filter is still in it's plastic. As for pictures I'll take some later today

Someone please help me understand this. I have read a little herein about cold air kits, but have no clue what you're tlaking about. Does it have to do with routing cooler or cold air into the engine instead of air that has been heated a little before it completes its circuitous journey into the intake manifold?

TIA

It displaces a second air intake going to some sort of sound deadner device on full throttle (noise restricted countries). at least that's my understanding.
posted these a while back from my install (schnell - cheaper...)
more intake sound but to be honest, it's a bit much - a drone - at WOT. I'm also using a BMC filter (yeah, yeah, I know all the arguements but I've used them for years on all my p-cars with no neg. affects, no CEL's. etc.)

the flapper valve that was connected to the second airbox hose that goes away with the kit.
