As I am sure none of you will recall, I ordered an '07 997S back at the end of October 2006. I was told I would have a build date of 12/20/06, and to expect the car at the end of January or beginning of February 2007.
I received a call from my dealer around Christmas confirming that my car had cleared production on 12/19, ahead of schedule. I received a call last week stating that my car had arrived at port in Brunswick, GA. Much to my (and the dealer's) surprise, the car arrived at the dealership late Saturday afternoon.
I had to take a peek today, and have a few observations:
1. The meteor grey is fantastic. Contrary to some reports, there is no brown or olive tones (I have black interior, so no other tones are being picked up). I consider slate to be more akin to a battleship grey, and atlas to be darker with blue tones. Meteor is more of a true grey-- much like seal but more metallic.
2. A 996 with an aerokit was parked next to my car (my last P-car was a '99 996 with aerokit). It was surprising how dated the 996 looked when side by side. Note: this is not a knock on the 996, just an excited and glowing impression of the 997.
3. The Carrera Sport wheels fill up the wells more than the standard lobsterclaws. No need for any spacers in my opinion.
4. The PSE looks great on the back end!
I am scheduled to pick up the car tomorrow afternoon, after they inspect/detail/etc. Needless to say, I am very excited, and yes, I WILL POST PICTURES.
Regards,
No longer waiting
Hi Corky....
Congrats on your car arriving.
I'm sure the Sport wheels look great but I believe that they actually come with spacers because of the decreased offset relative to the lobster claws.,...just an FYI.
Sometimes before going to bed I will actually sit in the car a few minutes, my wife saw me once and I told her I was playing with with the radio.
LMAO! I did that when I had my Boxster and didn't hear the end of then. Now she just accepts that its a sickness..... at least we all have a support group
Man, what other crazy affectionate activities do we do within our p-car? I thought I was crazy when I say good morning to her and carress the hip as I past by her in the garage....Hehehe I guess not...
Corky, take some nice pics in the sun of the Meteor Gray. A lot of us here on the board have been fascinated with this color and would like to see more of it. Should look great with the black interior.

The XRR optional sport wheels are gorgeous. My salesman told me that on the C4/C4S the Sport wheels come with a 17mm spacer to correct for the needed rear offset. Porsche does not offer the 5mm spacer option since the car already has 17mm of spacer installed. For that was the reason I elected not to get the Sport wheels on my C4S. For a C2/C2S no spacer should be required.
