Default iTunes> MP3 workaround

iTunes music store purchases are protected ACC files that can't be burned as MP3.
The workaround>

Burn an audio CD then reimport as MP3 then make a playlist and burn as MP3 disc.
Presto

Or you can automate the process.

I downloaded it, but I must admit that I've never used it. Check versiontracker.com for real-life user experiences and comments.

It looks like it is for Mac only.

Convert the files from .MP3 to .WAV, and they will play in a standard car CD.

In Windows XP if you copy .mp3 files to a cd and then select "write these files to CD" it will pop up a message asking you if you want to create an audio cd to play in a cd player or a data cd.

If you select the audio option it will automatically format the cd to play in cd players...

If your car was built after April of 2005 (i think but not 100%) the in dash cd player can play mp3 audio data disks. I get about 120 songs on each cd with each song typically ripped at 192kbps.

I assume this was on all Porsche models but I'd double check.

The in dash cd player is capable of playing mp3 disks. The issue is burning an mp3 cd from iTunes, which doesn't seem possible, unless as suggested by MJones that you burn individual audio cd's, and then upload the songs in mp3 format.

To be clear - you can burn MP3 CD's directly from iTunes but just not using the protected songs you buy from the iTunes music store. Unless you employ the work around posted above.

So if I understand correctly, the "right click" option to select "convert to MP3" does NOT work on purchased iTunes songs? No wonder everyone uses Limewire...

Bummer....
