I simply can't walk away from my car without looking back to admire it's sculpted form. I doubt that I'd feel so compelled to sit in my garage gazing upon the lines of any sedan after a few months of ownership.
Well said. I do exactly the same thing.

Default Do you REALLY care what other people think?

You apparently have the financial resources to drive whatever car you want. Frankly, I can't imagine that the opinions of a bunch of strangers would make the first iota of difference in your decision. And, since keeping a car for any extended period of time also doesn't seem to be one of your objectives...... go ahead, buy whatever you fancy at the moment.

It had German plates on it, and the sales date will be sometime in March 07.
You saw a new RS6 at a dealership - not an '03?

I didn't know they were coming out until the fall. I guess if anywhere would have one now on display it would be Vegas. Did it have a sticker on it? I've been wondering what they were going to ask for this M5 killer.

Whoops - sorry to thread jack.

Uhhhhh, keep your 911. If you still want an S8 in 6months, then buy a used one that someone traded in for a 911. Let them take the 40K depreciation hit.

I think it comes down to if you want a sports car or a sedan.
Still though the S4 must feel like a nose heavy pig compared to the C4S. Not to take anything away from the S4. It's good for what it is, but still it can't compare to the C4S in terms of "fun to drive."

Cool OK!

You all talked me into it!

I'm not trading the 997S for the S8 Quattro.

I'm moving the Carrera to my father in law's garage to sit next to his late 90s BMW 740i. They live in Ohio for half the year. The car will be within easy jogging distance of my house. So for a bit I can drive both cars, the S8 and the 997S with X51. We're actually selling two cars to get the Q7 and S8 as it is. So keeping the 997S is not uppping the number of cars we own. That said, I reserve the right to sell anything at any time. And the 997S is an indulgance for me at this point.

+1 for Crazy Canuck's idea: Get a lift, buy the Audi and keep the Porsche. The lifts work quite well.

Or wait 18 months and you could get a lightly-used S8 for $45,000. Depreciation on Audis is atrocious.

Get rid of the kids and keep the Porsche. Hehehehe...

I had looked into the Audi A8 or the BMW 750il... I wanted an Audi because it's unique and IMO, much more sportier vehicle than the 750il. I wanted comforts ,quiet and at the same time be able to take my clients around . How I ended up w/ a Porsche?? Wife indicated to me, driving those 4 doors are for older folks, they are easily affordable and common. In the area where I lived, they are everywhere. She said I needed to distinguish myself. So she got me a Cobalt Blue CS4 . Having a Porsche show 1st) good taste, 2) Sucessful 3) Assertive 4) Creative 5) Energetic and 6) Young....I'm only 42 and if I drive an A8 or a 750il... It willn only indicate I'm 1) Mature (Old), 2) Sucessful 3) Conservative 4) Family man and 5) Boring.

She was right.. Driving my Emily make me feel energetic, and confident. My business tactic became a little bit more tactic and agressive.. The desire for comfort and quiet kind of disappeared. LOL!!! I give myself 5 more years to have more fun and than settle down w/ a 750il or bigger thinking a Bentley.

So, to answer your questions. keep the Porsche and Buy a BMW X-3. Daily commute and drive your kids in the X3. Drive your Porsche to relax and to psych out your clients. Make oodle of money...Built a three car garage, and then buy the S8.
