I, for one, am a status-seeking yuppie who poses around the country club in my disposable ***** extension. I'm so glad I bought such an inferior automobile that could only be produced by an additional 10 years of technological and engineering advancements.

I'm sure someone will shortly remind me of the difference in sumps and soon reference a bunch of third-person anecdotes of their cousin's lawyer's first-uncle running into oil starvation at the track with the M96/97-equipped motors.

I don't know how the conceit of preferring a 993 over a 997 is any different than the conceit some 997 owners have about tip drivers.

Glad you're getting a little taste of your own medicine.

Funny...I distinctly remember during my first drive in a 993 back in 1996 (a friend's new C4S) thinking that it felt more like my BMW 5-series than the 911SC I owned at the time...too heavy and refined.

The 997 is another decade of refinement, but they've held the weight and price in check, while improving performance, handling, safety, emissions, etc...that's progress.

Just think good thoughts & repeat:

Every day, in every way, I'm getting better & better.

You should think like most of us, that this thread is pretty useless.

The 997 dash design was clearly inspired by the 993...not the Cayenne. As was pointed out, there are no similarities between the Cayenne and 997 interiors.
