I always change the tranny oil in my new motocross bikes after the first break- in ride. When I inspect the used oil I find a lot of metal in it. I can't imagine it being much different in any motor or tranny.

I'm about to do my first oil change at 1200 miles. After that I'll probably do one every year, which should be approximately every 5-7,000 miles of driving.
