Build Tracker???
Apologies if this topic has been covered in the past (my search didn't yield anything). When ordering my car, the dealer said that he had sold a car in the past to a gentleman who was able to track the build status of his car using the Porsche order number. I assume that this was done online. The dealer said the customer had more up-to-date information than he was able to obtain through normal dealership channels. Has anyone heard of such a thing? I understand that this can be done with BMW's (although I have never personally ordered one). Such info will greatly benefit those of us in the Waiters Club.......
Thanks!
Thanks!
I have a BMW 3 series on order, and the status can be tracked through their website www.bmwusa.com. Unlike what your're hearing, my dealer has access to much more current info. On a past Porsche order, my dealer was able to give me updates, likely before available via the web. Good luck.
As far as I know, only the dealers can track the order progress. There is a series of codes that indicate the build progress of your car and the dealer can log on and see how it's doing. But I don't think non-dealers have access.
Not to be too negative, but your dealer is BS'ing you.
I appreciate your "Waiter's Club" pain. Been there, done that and it's not fun. But the end result is well worth it. Good luck!!

The only way to track the build process is on the dealers eDcs system.
If your salesperson is attentive he can really paint a picture of where the car is in the production cycle.
In the following post link are a couple of images of where my car was about two weeks ago...now its sailing towards San Diego

When I ordered my E46M3 4.5 years ago I tracked its progress and you know what, it didn't get here any quicker. In hindsight, I wasted time. So with the 997S order, I didn't really care what the status was, where it was, etc. The dealer called me about 5 weeks after the order and said "What's up Ron, haven't heard from you - I just saw that your car is complete and will be shipped soon..." I said "let me know when it hits the US and you can schedule the delivery." He thought it curious that such a car / track enthusiast wouldn't be calling him weekly (or daily) as some people do and I told him I didn't want to waste his time, nor take up mine making the call.
