Default Slate Grey? Brown or Green Tint?

Hi,

I am in the process of narrowing down my color of choice. But I am confused with slate grey - does it have a brown or green tint? I think that I may be color blind, or at least my wife thinks that I am.

Thanks for the responses.

I think it has both. I've pretty much decided on slate for my TT and went to my dealer a few weeks ago to check it out. It was stunning and depending on the light can exhibit both a brown or green tint to it. I guess we all see things a bit differently and with a color like that it certainly seems to be the case.

Have you seen it in person?

Personally I think Slate Grey is a great color. You will also not see yourself coming the other way, ever...

I had ordered a coupe in slate grey before I ended up taking a seal grey convertible off the lot. Basically, slate grey picks up environmental hues very easily. Great color. Tons of slate threads and posts and pictures in this forum, for example:

These are just some of the slate threads. I guess you'll find even more stuff when you search for slate posts.

I have a Slate Gray Cab. I also have the Beige/Black interior. I think the beige probably causes the Slate Gray to have a brown tint, if anything. I don't see any green tint at all. But any tint is pretty subtle. Most of the time it looks just ... gray.
I love the Slate Gray, BTW. I do get lots of compliments on it.

Great color. I see the brown but not the green tint. Doesn't mean it isn't there, just that I can't see it. Get what you like based on your eyes, not someone else's perception of what it is.

Tom, have you posted pics of how your interior looks with the Slate Grey? I bet it looks awesome. Would love to see some. Is there a thread where you showed off pics of your car?

I too was going to get Slate Grey but I changed my order when I saw that up close in person Slate Grey was just a darker shade of grey than the Seal Grey. I agree with Soulteacher that Slate Grey picks up environmental hues very easily and reflects them depending on the lighting.

It's a color you need to see in person and at different times of the day and under different lighting conditions if possible.

If you pm Eric at Bumper plugs.com he can give you the formula for the paint so you can see the percentages of color in the slate.

Thanks Ben,

I am very happy with how it turned out. But, it has been so much fun to drive that I just have not gotten around to posting pics. I will have more to come.

Here are additional slate photos in various lighting conditions. The different hues of bronze, green, and gray all have their moments.

The two-tone interior on Tom's car is very nice. Perfect for a Cab to show it off.

Slate Grey Metallic does cast a slight amount of Taupe or Brown to it, but it is very subtle. I went with a black interior, as the most conservative and safe choice, but I have seen the Cocoa brown and the Terracotta. Neither of those interior colors would be my choice, but I could see how some guys could like it. It's all personal.
