Default 997 wipers ... good?

I've got a March delivery of a C4S and as one might imagine, Spring cannot come too soon (for many reasons).

As I looked at several 997 models, I noticed that the windshield wipers were pretty lame looking. My 993 C4S has wipers that look like they were taken directly from a VW Bug circa 1976. The 997 looks a bit better, but not much.

I have a BMW and a Merc with wonderful blades. Almost squeegie-like. My 993 is tragic in the rain looking thru the windscreen.

I'm wondering if folks have good experiences with the 997 wipers or not? And, if not ... can the wipers be replaced (the blade portion) with better performers?

I know this is pretty petty, but ... hey, a $100K car with crap for wipers? WTF?Are these cars not driven in the rain? I doubt that. Plus, I'm bored.

Thanx in advance.

They don't look much (the ones on my BMW are much more sospisticated/meaty looking), but the Carrera wipers have always worked fine for me in my 5 months of ownership.

The wipers work GREAT in rain and in snow.
The Rain Sensor works flawlessly as well

Check out the Valeo wipers at the bottom of the page. They work pretty well and look quite good -- very aerodynamic. PIAA wipers are pretty good too. A bunch of guys on this board swear by them.

Valeo are OEM to PAG on the Cayenne.
Prior to the 'angle of attack fix', the wipers would sound like 2 angry elephants having their asses dragged across the windshield in the rain. They also wore out rather quickly.
Both issues have since been addressed.

I forgot to mention that I also find that the rain sensing does work great, as stated by MJones - much better than the rain sensing in my BMW.

Dont forget to put a repellant on the windshield. It makes the wipers' job so much easier, as well as obviating the use of wipers in light rain. Personally I use Aquapel, which is similar to Rain-X, but lasts far longer.

I believe the older 911 wipers had a faster cycle time,--and three speeds compared to the 997's. With Rain-X or Aquapel wipers are almost unnecessary.

I use my C4 cab as a daily driver and have seen everthing from fog and light mist up to thunderstorm downpours. The wipers work great in all conditions. Effective and quiet. The rain sensor works just fine for me. Better than Lexus or MB that I have had in the past. Initially, I too was worried about the wimpy look of the wipers, but they work great.

That's good news regarding the OEM blades. Plus the information regarding other blades, like Valeo and PIAA. I used to use Rain-X on my cars, but forgot about it. Thanx for reminding me.

I'm pleased that the OEM wipers work as well as they do for us.

Thanx everyone.
