SSSSSSSSSSSS
Well we just got back from Austin with the new ride. Took back roads all the way from Austin to Houston. Never got on the interstate. Drove through Bastrop and Buescher state parks, and along rte 159 through Industry. A great drive.
Initial impressions of the S vs the old 997... Much nicer power band on the S. The low end torque boost relative to the non-S makes it a much more driveable car in that you don't have to keep the revs up as much. PASM is a wonder. Cruising along, the car seems to have a more comfortable ride than the non-S, but push it a bit, and it hunkers down on the road. Bose turns out to be much better than I thought. I was not a Bose proponent for the 997, but now that I have it,... it makes listneing to music much more pleasent. This car has the phone option also. We lost signal on the car phone several times while driving, but still had it on my wife's cell phone, so it seems that reception is not great, but the phone experience is really good.
This breakin period is going to be tough. I'm dying to open it up.

Looks great. One subtle thing about getting an 'S' (and this applies to any Porsche model) is that the model designation comes in a brighter silver, which looks really sharp against most of the colors, but especially seal grey.

Ah, a very good question. I tried with both dealerships. Momentum came off list price a little, then firmed up and would not budge. Porsche of West Houston was..., well complete jerks. I walked in there, told them what I was looking for, and the guy scoffed at me and told me he had one S that he would sell for list price take it or leave it. I might have gotten Momentum to move more on their price had I been more patient, but I called up Roger Beasley in Austin, and they were very pleasent to deal with, and accomodating on price. The buying experience at Beasley was just fantastic. No tacked on charges, and they treat you like they value your business. I won't set foot in the West Houston dealership again.
