Mine has passed the 2000 mile mark and while during break-in I thought it had a respectable amount of power, now it seems downright fast and it seems to be getting faster.

The power band from 4000 to redline is where the action is although it'll get you into trouble in a hurry. Would hate to go through that 2000 mile break-in procedure again knowing what I know now, but it'll be over soon. Congrats on the new car.

Yea, the dealers suck in Houston, because they are both owned by the same company. What's the term? Monopoly. So they aren't motivated in giving discounts. And their rediculous "Dealer Services" fee of $500 is a total joke! More power to you for finding a better deal in Austin.

Congrats, Mike. Hey, as far as the break-in is concerned - just drive across Texas a few times and you're done! <g>

At least you'll have the weather to enjoy the break-in process. It's getting really chilly up here in Chicagoland.... brrrr.

The last photo is excellent! Thanks man.

Hang in there, buddy. You haven't seen anything yet. Yes, it _is_ getting faster. 4,500 miles was another 'milestone' with my car; it revs so fast in first now that it's hard to keep it off the rev limiter... mash the pedal at 3k in 1st and you'll be at the hard limit in just over a second. In Sport mode, you can catch some serious tail-out yaw around 4-5k in first - and hey, my car is AWD!

The car is constantly changing - maturing, "curing", whatever - Hell, I don't know. I understand the engineering concepts behind this maturation, but it's just amazing to feel... almost like the car is becoming more sure of itself - just as I am driving it. (And YES, I will be doing PDE really soon now... I'm committed to that!)

I love this thing more each day. Just an awesome, incredible companion - it's just not a "car". The little niggling issues, I can live with - there's nothing else like this on the road - and I have plenty of warranty left to work thru the cosmetic stuff. I just can't bear to part with the damned thing to take it in for cosmetic stuff!

Last night, the girls were out at a charity event, so a buddy and I went to see Robin Williams in "Man of the Year" (a _really_ fun flick, BTW). I stopped at his house afterwards for (one!) beer. Headed home around midnight. I live about four miles from Sam's house. One hour later, I pulled into my garage.

Now, what would possess an otherwise semi-intelligent person to turn a 5 minute drive into an hour cruise? At midnight? And, worse yet - at 29 degrees F? Well, how could I not? Best part - when it's below freezing, there are no bugs flying around... <g> Yeah, I'm ordering the Pirellli 240s this week, I promise.

Completely within the speed limit, just cruising. Listening to the motor, smiling at the view out the windshield, the kick-*** glow of the instrument dials, the blue fluorescent "09.11" that I managed to catch on the Wart display (on the first try!).

If this is a midlife crisis, I'm all for it.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience at West Houston Porsche, I ordered my 997TT from them and they have been very cool and easy to deal with thru the entire process. The service department is very good, I have never had a problem and they always go above and beyond to help me out.
YMMV Just a long time satisfied customer no affiliation.
BTW nice car!

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that you've had good experiences with them. I just must have hit a bad sales guy who was having a bad day. When do you get your 997TT?

Hey everyone, thanks for all the good wishes and compliments on the car. I feel like I'm already using up too much RennList bandwidth (RennWidth?), but I did some PaintShop Pro work on this photo, and it came out good enough to be worth sharing.
