Glad it worked out for you. I'm an uphill guy also. Much more control with the throttle v. the brake.

If you get to try some roads in Western NM, let us know how they compare. I need to get over there.

There is one gas station in central Gallup with the highest octane in New Mexico. It was part of my cross-country routine to find all the places with the highest octanes.

Here are 2 pics near the southern end of the 191 near Morenci. As you can see the curves and tight turns are great for drifting that tail out. Wonderful drive, and driven at 40-60mph, so very easy to catch the car should any problems occur.

icon, I had as much fun on the 191 as I do on the Ring. I suppose it has something to do with the ability to stop and breath the fresh air and look at the view at the few vista points. However, it's as bad as being on a track on your tires and brakes if you really push it. I'm looking forward to my next trip out there where I'll do it northwards. Breaking out the back with the throttle is more fun and less stress on the brakes.
