you need to max out camber in the front. you will probably get round -1 deg. with the stock suspension.
When coming off track after 22 laps it was:

46 front
50 rear

which is what i was shooting for. it was about 3 or 4 psi less when i went out on track when they were warm (during my 2nd session).

I got about 1500km (about 1000 miles) out of a set. Corded the outside edges. Middle of the tires were fine.

Get a more agressive alignment that stock. Tires will last longer and the car will handle better.

Have fun.

Oh and above 40psi hot PS2s get mightly squirrelly. Might want to consider dropping some pressure. I shoot for 38 hot.

So Dan - besides the tire wear ;-) - how was the track time?

way too high. you should not exceed 40psi hot on street tires. abve 40psi ps2 will become greasy and you will loose traction and cause the tread to peel as in the picture. these tires are completely destroyed at the outer edge. i had gone through several set this year becasue of the "soft" srock springs and inability to get enough neggtive camber in the front with the stock suspension. if you lower the car with a set of stiffer springs (e.g. h&r) you woould be able to get more negative camber and less ody roll. your tires would last much longer.

try starting with tire pressure in the low 30s cold and adjust them as soon as you get off the track to desired pressure (40psi or less).

I have a trackday (1st time) coming up at Sebring and would like to know what tire pressures I should start out with cold psi? I have the same tires as Ronmart Michelin PS2's but on a C2S.

Pretty normal for a steet tire to look like that. As a sideonte, I think the PS2s offer near DOT-R levels of grip, at least compared to PSCs and Corsas. Of course they can't run with a Hoosier or a Kumho V710. But they have great feel and grip with temperature, I was surprised by them on my 997S.

What tire pressures do you run Frayed?

I was very impressed with the performance of the tires, but I'm tempted to do the Bridgestones or Pirelli's next time to get more life out of the tires.

What tire pressures for my C2S do you all recomend for a track day?

I have the same Michelin tires Ronmart has and a trackday DE coming up at Sebring.

thanks, Mike

Default 5 days...

I ran 5 days at the Streets of Willow Springs with the POC, and my PS2's were toast. Sidewalls scrubbed off on both front tires. I had 14.000 on the tires, and they would have gone quite a bit longer had it not been for the track days.
Get ready for some sticker shock when you go out to get new tires....
But that fun on the track is worth it....

I would shoot for about 40psi (hot), fwiw my 996 seemed to work best at 36/44 (hot) on street tires.

I'm nowhere near a gear head, so while I completely understand what you mean by negative camber - my knowledge ends there. I'd have to get someone to make that adjustment for me.

From my own experience, anything less than -2.5 of neg camber up front will continue to cuase outside shoulder wear if you drive the car at the limit at the track.

To run that type of camber or more (I run -3.5) you need to replace the lower front control arms with GT3 Cup Car parts.

If you track the car enough is a cheap solution to extending tire life. Otehrwise tracking your car will become very expensive if you drive it hard. With the OEM camber, the car is still fun, and you can make it turn by loading the front under braking, but it just rides on the shoulders too much under steady state cornering. It's just the nature of the mcpherson strut setup.

How does negitive camber affect driving on the street? What pressures should I start out with cold to get near 36/40psi hot?

Listen to Frayed, he knows his stuff. Those tires look perfectly normal to me after a nice day at the track. After a few weeks of street driving you won't tell they were on the track. The Melt goes away leaving behind normal compound. If anything, pressure is the concern - you want to operate PS2s at 40-41 hot maximum - I usually start at about 35 cold all around and adjust after the first session - every track is different, so try one pressure and bleed (shouldn't have to add).

Don't get hung up on camber. As has been stated, PS2s are near R-compound - they are what I used on One Lap (as did about 90% of the field in 2005). They are fantastic tires. If you take this so far to use lightweight wheels, PSCs, modified suspension, etc. - then you can worry about camber.

How are your pads and rotors? If they are OK, then you really don't have a worry about tires. Once those go and you switch to Orange, black, or gray, then you probably will need more in the tire department.

My guess is eventually you'll get into a routine of jacking up the car, pulling the oem wheel / tire, swapping pads, and putting on a lightweight wheel with PSCs on. Very formidable!

I run my PS2s (rain / cold days) 35 cold and adjust down to 40-41 hot. My PSCs are 28 cold and 34-35 hot. You can probably find this in the "tire care" section at Tire Rack where the PS2 and PSC is described. Some of my track buddies talk about different pressures, so my experience is based to date on my M3...
