Default False Laser Warnings with V1...

Gang: I found another false laser warning source this am with the V1...

We already know that the high-mount 3rd brake light on the Lincoln Navigator and Chevy TrailBlazer (and variants) will generate a false laser warning on the Valentine One. This warning happens within close range only - if you get a laser hit and one of these SUVs is braking in directly front of you, you've nailed the source. The range on these falses is about two car lengths or less in my experience...

The laser cruise control in the latest Lexus LS430 is a totally different story - I got constant laser warnings as the car approached me, for about one mile.

Just something to be aware of. I wonder what an active laser jammer will do to the Lexus' speed control if the cruise is engaged when you meet ?

Just FYI,

-don

I noticed this with the LS as well. The new MB S-class does the same thing to my V1

Same thing happens to the Passport. I've noticed the rear brake lights on GMC trucks cause the laser to go off.

I've had the same thing happen, but you still have to be vigilant. I had a false lazer indication from a Mercedes heading in the opposite direction and then a minute later from a cop with a lazer gun.

Treat the "falsies" as a warning for the real thing!

So that's the deal with the Lexus! I thought they had a laser jammer.

Unlike the RF band, you've got no control over your fate with laser.
When I'm crusing and the laser alarm goes off, I just take a deep breath, relax and wait for the cop to pull me over. There's no escape. The chances of getting a laser reflection, i.e a warning, are extremely small.

happened to me just yesterday. got hit with laser. by the time i let off the gas it was already too late. he pointed to me and i pulled right over. 89 in a 65. got off with a warning . i told him i was late for dental surgery, which i was.

Hope no one hear relies on their V1 for Laser "detecting". It's too late by the time it detects! Get a jammer!

Wow! Either Atlanta cops are that lenient,
OR... you are a flirtatious gorgeous blonde!?
OR...the cops that stopped you were gay, and they fancied you and your car.

Open wide.
(just kidding.)
I think they keep track of warnings, at least for awhile.
I ordered the Passport 8500 X50 today.

Infiniti FX triggers the V1 too. As do road-side Caltrans signs, animated billboards ... just about everything except actual laser ... : |
