There is no "Carrera" white. It has always been Carrara white. Carrara is between Pisa and Genoa along the west side of Italy, and the source of the special white marble that Michaelangelo used on his masterpieces. (It's a town in Italy).

This is a common error within the Porsche community.

Dan is 100% correct. The reason carrara and carrera are some close in spelling is just coincidental. One represents the "white" in the paint (carrara) and one represents the race (carrera).

Thanks for the information. All this time I thought Porsche had it wrong on their site.

What would be even MORE fun would be to order a Paint To Sample and CALL it CARRERA White!

can you actually name the Paint to cample color? or they will just give you a serial number for the special color?

You know, you Rennlist guys are way too savy. Of course, you're right,--but we can TRY!

One thing that I learned in my Paint To Sample saga was that life is a lot easier going with something that was out there once before. Just buying a tube of touch up paint is a heck of a lot easier when you can cite a paint code number or name. Getting a match to a pure Paint To Sample will cost an arm and a leg everytime you need a pint mixed up.

I wonder if I provide a piece of whatever and tell Porsche this color is called "lighting yellow" and I want to paint my car in this color. Would the window sticker lists the color as "lighting yellow" also?

I believe that the sticker would state that the color is "paint to sample" even if it is a an older, "retired" stock Porsche paint color like Arena Red, Ocean Blue, Pastel Yellow, etc.

gota911 is right. The Monroney Sticker merely states "Paint To Sample"
