The Breitling SuperOcean is a nice watch in that price range. If you don't want to be flashy, you can get a rubber dive strap instead of the steel band. It's sporty without screaming for attention. Waterproof to some 5,000 feet - for bragging rights with the Rolex guys.

I like the TAG Carrera link. Anyone here have one? Omega's are nice too. Most of my pilot type friends wear Breitlings of course.

I just picked up Tag Carrera Chrono Racing
released in April. I like its more subtle yet sporty look. weight is nice. rubber strap works well on hot track days.

I have that tag Carrera but the first edition without the red hands and with the stainless band. I love the watch. I personally don't like that rubber strap all that much. It takes away from the beauty of the watch in my opinion. Love the red hands though.
