Default Time to bring out the touch up paint.

Well, I have acquired a scratch. It is at the lower portion of the bumper just above the license plate. I have attached a picture to show the damage. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to go about fixing this? I really would prefer to not have the bumper repainted, as I like knowing that the car still has the factory paint.

So far my game plan is to wet sand it with some fine grit sand paper, then apply some primer, and then use multiple thin layers of the oem touch up paint to build it up to where it should be. I plan to use a toothpick as the applicator.
Finally, I will wet sand it again, and if needed go over it with some rubbing compound and/or polish. Does a layer of clear coat need to be added on top of the factory touch up paint?
Thanks!

Yikes!

You'll probably get some more feedback, but for starters you could check out Ben's post on chip repair and maybe follow the links and see if any of the information is also applicable to your situation. Since yours is not a stone chip but a scratch, I'm not sure. Worth a try, though: https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...07&postcount=1

Ouch, that's a nasty one. Good luck but I would have a pro fix a scratch like that.

Default Update!

Well, I went ahead and tried to repair the scratch using the touch up paint and wet sanding in between coats. The overall result turned out well. I have attached a photograph of what it looks like now. The flash is working against me in this picture, as it really accentuates any textural differences. In person, even in direct sunlight, you can’t tell that there was once a scratch there. Kudos to Porsche for having a nice touch up paint kit that includes a bottle of clear coat.
