don't buy it. you'll have a hard time selling it. who wants a car that is sold with a waiver and some story? i'd take a 997S only if they discounted it to $60k. Another words, only on an offer that I cannot refuse.

I bet it's a Black "S"....It's NOT an instructor car.
I would not have a problem buying a PDE car knowing the meticulous maintenance that they care for the car with.
It's also a Tip which is not driven as much.
Your getting it with CPO which is a +.
What does this waiver state?

My recollection from PDE is that the 997 S are driven much less than the regular 997. Students spend most of their time driving the non-S cars. From memory. You may get to drive the S version but not much
Nonetheless, $80k for a PDE car appears high.
Good luck.

whoops, my mistake, I took PDE car to mean launch car. All that talk about Atlanta got me confused ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
The car I test-drove before I bought mine was a black/black launch car which supposedly was driven around Atlanta by someone from PCNA.

nicely equipped but...as i recall we all got to drive the S's while we were there. granted the majority of the time was spent in the non-S but to assume it's all instructor time might be a bit risky. Even if it weren't a PDE car $80 is a seems a bit high. There are 2005 S's out there (like mine), without the ceramic brakes and lower miles in the $72k area. The fact that it's a PDE car would have me looking for a nice discount (at least $5k if not more).

this is an old thread but thought i'd put my .02 here in case anyone searches the topic in the future. i did pde last fall and asked what happened to all the cars we use once the school is over. they only run them in the school for a certain number of miles and then turn them back to the dealer. based on what they say at pde, the cars get an extremely thorough work over to make sure everything is 100%. in fact, according to the pde guys, they're probably better than any other used car you could look at because the inspections are so thorough. apparently the dealers fight to try and get these cars to resell.
anyway, just thought i'd leave this out there in case anyone else researches the topic.

Been to PDE, drove both 997 and 997S and the instructors grabbed the same cars we were driving. Not really assigned. You just took what was on the line and available. Based on our two days of hard driving both cars. I would not purchase a PDE car. It was kind of the reason I liked PDE. I got to drive their cars hard, not mine. Just my two cents.

Hold on a second... The orginal post was from 7/06 for an '05 model. Sure $80K for a one year old 997S may be a bit high, but is not that far out of line. For an '05 997S today, I would agree with you.... 65K at best!
