Default PDE USED CARS -- OK TO BUY?

Hi everyone:

I am considering purchasing a 2005 911 S coupe from a local P-car dealer who says that they got the car from Atlanta from the Porsche Driving Experience (PDE). They say the car was an instructor's car, and was driven to "safe extremes" on the track, but that I would have to sign a waiver stating I was OK with that before I buy.

Original MSRP on this 05 911/997 S coupe was $95,955 with the following options: Grey with blk interior, Leather Sport Seats,Heated Front Seats,PCCB, Sport Chrono Plus, Bose Surround Sound, Tiptronic S. 6K miles. CPO. They are asking $80k, after some negotiation.

Anyone have any experience with PDE Used cars before? Should I ignore this or is this a serious consideration? If PDE cars are ok, is this a good price for this machine?

Thanks in advance for the thoughts/advice.

80K?
too high for me.
for 80K, u can get a normally used 997 CS.
how do they know it's an instructor car?
just like all "exec" demo cars were driven by the dealer's wife?

Have you ever been to a racing school. Those guys treat vehicles like a red headed step child.

And, can they provide paperwork that proves the car was an instructors car and not a student. -- I highly doubt it..
Come to think about it, I'd bet you, it's next to impossible to find a PDE car that is not sold as an "instructor" car. I'm betting that's the B.S. no one can prove or disprove. But as soon as you sign that letter (that doesn't state is was an instructors car but just states its a PDE car, you have no recourse.)

I am a huge watch guy...
Don't ask.. my addiction for chronos is out of hand.. Help me, I have a problem.

You lock a thread by going to thread tools in the right hand corner.. You must be the one who started the thread.

-- No, I have not been to PDE, just Skip Barber racing schools. I can tell you this and please, listen up.... "NEVER BUY A PRE OWNED, RED DODGE" It's the standing joke when they pile 10 people into a van and drive through the track at high speed.

I would have no problem buying a car that was used on the track, probably means it was well maintained. But to buy a car that is used on the track EVERYDAY, I might even buy one of those too, For about $10K off market value. If it's the difference between a $2K on a $80K car, I'd rather pay the extra $2K and not have a PDE vehicle.
-- I am sure the instructors take good care of these cars, but don't you think the dealership who buys them gets a good deal (the probably buy in a bundle package at below wholesale.) and they are charging market prices.
And, don't you think when you sell that car in 4 years when it has another 50,000 miles, the words coming out of your mouth "It was a PDE car" might effect your resale.. Remember, you must disclose that too.

pass.

Come to think of it, the only way I would really consider buying a PDE car is:

If I were buying it directly from PDE.. Meaning that, I pay what a dealer would pay for the car, with no further "taxing" on the price.
That would probably be a good deal.. But once the stealer gets there hands on it. Fuuughedaboutit.....

I'm sure you can't buy them like this, but that's the only way I would do it.

I'd think you'd also want the dealer to give you a PWIS readout that shows if there were any over-rev events.
