Hmmmm...I wonder if they are unloading all the cars including West coast vehicles and trucking them or if the Orion will actually continue to the Pacific???

This unsolicited message he sent today:

Matt,

Just got word from Porsche, looks like your car should arrive in San Diego on the 30th. I will be on vacation starting Saturday the 22nd till the 29th, feel free to call me on my cell phone if you have any questions during that time. Sincerely
Doug

Now, I'm assuming our cars were on the same vessel because mine also shipped on July 5. I suppose it's possible more than one vessel set sail that day.

Here's the response:

Your car was unloaded in Brunswick, and is being railroaded to San Diego it was on the Orion Hwy.

Actually - I kinda wish they'd left it on the ship. The idea it's driven off the ship, loaded into some rail car and off loaded in San Diego then put on a truck to the Bay Area just to save a week seems like an uneccesary risk.

As I wrote in an earlier post on this thread, my salesman said Porsche dumped a bunch of west coast cars on the east coast ship so they could get them to a U.S. port for revenue recognition. At the time, my dealer said they were going to try to get the car offloaded in Bruswick and trucked to CA, saving a couple weeks in the process. Sounds like they succeeded although I'm not sure how much real benefit was derived.

How are P-cars transported by rail anyhow? I hope they are fully enclosed rail cars...

My car was on the Orion Highway and my dealer just emailed me that the car has just been delivered to them in Atlanta ! Hooray !

The following bit is off-topic...but I'm excited so my apologies. They will install a few goodies and the PSE et viola it'll be ready to be delivered to me in TN in a few days... however there is a problem... I'm stuck here in the UK until the 26th!!!! Aaaargh!!! I get back there for 5 days then back to blighty for 3 days... and then back to TN to enjoy the car for 3 weeks!

The long wait is almost over...
