Honestly I let my buddy do what he feels the car needs. I'll post more tonight when I pick her up. He did install K-40 Caliber.

 

I finally finished the install. I have the stock bose sound with the Z1 head unit. I am not going to lie. My face plate sucks. Your face plate is perfect. Can you make me a face plate PLEASE.

For all the effort people are going through to mod their stereos,--can't anyone take a decent photo of it after the installation is done?

 

For those that is looking forward to mod their stereos without changing stock look. I recently consulted to a very top of the line individualization company here and saw a 997 that was modded. They kept the stock look and just switched speakers to MB Quartz added a processor that is compatibale to MOSt and added an amp and an optional sub behinde the back seat area. I have the stock system (no bose) and I believe that it sounds better than Bose but still nowhere near ok in my book. This setup sounds just amazing and it is the way to go if you want to keep the stock look and no modifications of the panels and etc.

 

Hey Queram do you have a link to the "very top of the line individualization company" I would love to get a face plate made.

 

The system I saw was using the stock head unit. However I am sure they can manufacture one (not sure if they have one) . They do boats, vans (craftmanship is top notch in details, custom stereo applications for luxurious cars.

I do that on one of my other cars that I use for long haul driving. Roughly 2-3/4 movies between SB and Mammoth for skiing!
