PSE still an option on the 997 S? And PCCB and/or Power Kit?
Am trading my SL for a 997 S shortly to come back into the Porsche ownership fold (had an '01 Boxster S before getting the SL500) but before visiting the dealer, I've been playing around with the online configuration tool on the Porsche website.
I've noticed that the PSE option is not available on the configurator; does that mean it's no longer an option?
And while wondering if options like the PCCB, special exteior colors, Power Kit, and the Aerokit are money well spent, I'm interested in some of the forum members' opinions on whether to spend the money on PCCB and/or the Power Kit if I will be tracking the car maybe 20% of the time instructing at PCA schools and the rest of the 80% on the street.
I already have a '99 M3 that is a dedicated track car and it's more than 75% of the way to becoming a full club racer, so I'm not looking for another dedicated track car needing a ride on the trailer. But it'll be more fun than the SL to drive and enjoy, while being able to go to the occasional track event without the need for the trailer, driving it to and from the event venue.
TIA for your opinions shared.

As you already knew most of us all have opinions on these things. AFAIK, those options have carried over into the MY07 cars. TPMS has become standard, and there have been some color shifts.
If you want a great performing car seriously consider the PCCBs. I personally think the Power Kit (X51) is priced too high for the modest return but others have felt justified in their expenditure of $16,900--let's see how much it goes up, or down from MY06. (With Porsche, DOWN is rare, but it does happen). I have been pleased with the drop in the brake prices. Although a bit over $8K I think the weight savings, consistent performance, and wear factors all make it a worthwhile option. For colors I have to say that I encourage more people to be a little daring with their 911s. I think it's still a car to have fun with and not try to appear ultraconservative (with an anthracite grey or something). Go for something interesting and bright! Will you get that back someday? I think so, as long as it's not too garrish.

See my car
I have a C2S with the Aerocup Kit, PCCB's, PSE and other items.
I must say it was money well spent as I got it the way I wanted it!
Besides the above items, also: Adaptive Sport Seats, Sport Steering Wheel, Sport Shifter, Sport Chrono, Yellow Seatbelts, Bose, Nav, Heated Seats, Self Dimming mirrors, Logbook, Full Leather, Colored Wheel Crests, Crest in Headrests, Satellite kit (Cayenne Kit), CD-Changer, K-40 Radar, Armorglove Film.
The only items I did not get was the X51 Power Upgrade. $17K for 26HP was nuts to me.
Go and configure your car the way YOU want it! If it's custom color match, seatbelts, seatbacks painted etc... YOU drive it!
The best "fun" items: Sport Shifter (rifle-bolt action), PSE (music to my ears) Sport Steering Wheel (feels perfect) and the PCCB's (stops like an anchor). The rest was comfort, looks, etc.

Since we're on the topic, the other major options that are definitely on the list are:
- 19" Carrera Sport Wheel
- Adaptive Sport Seats
- Heated seats
- Sports Seats Back Painted
- Rear Wiper
- Sport Chrono Plus
- Sport Shifter
- Extended Nav Module
- Bose Sound System + CD Changer
Plus I'll probably throw in
- Fire Extinguisher
- Seat belts in Guards Red
- Three spoke steering wheel
- Aluminum gear shifter & center console
The colors I'd really like are Slate Grey or Cobalt Blue, but may go with one of the standard colors.
Naturally, if the dealer has a car with broad similar equipment at the time, the above list may go out the window in a hurry if I decide not to be patiend. But I'll try to behave and wait for the car ordered the way I want it when decision time comes.
