Checkpoint 8: Soon to be New Member
I just got the call that my new C4S Cabriolet has a VIN number I celebrated by getting the baby a new blanket (read: car cover). After reading the posts about the indoor cover, I purchased the Porsche outdoor cover (for Parade Concours purposes, mainly). Here are the specs on the new car.
2006 C4S Cabriolet
403 19" Carrera S Wheel
A1 Black
V9 Cabriolet Roof Black
BM Black/Sand Beige Interior
482 TPMS
446 Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
267 Self Dimming Mirrors
450 PCCB
640 Sport Chrono Package Plus
PO1 Adaptive Sport Seats
XSA Sport Seat Backs Painted
342 Heated Seats
XME Rear Center Console in Exterior Color
XXZ Footrest in Aluminum
672 Extended Navigation Module
680 Bose High End Sound Package
MA6 Black Floor Mats with Porsche Lettering
Now to wait for the ONVESL update.

Did PCNA equate "Checkpoint 8 Date" as VIN assignment date? (Mine is presently 12 June with a guess on my part for a 15 June delivery).

My checkpoint 8 date was May 2 as of 4/1. Then on 4/7 I called my dealer and was told that my date changed to April 28. It appears that checkpoint 8 date is not set in stone and may change daily or weekly. I will call my dealer again on 4/21 to follow-up.

Yes. I had originally had a checkpoint 8 date of April 10 when I ordered the car on February 18. It was updated to April 13 several weeks ago. Yesterday, it was listed as PRODLST (last factory checkoint) and today I received the VIN.

Thanks, everyone, for the clarification. Although I have insight into several of the internal PAG computer codes for progress through the production to delivery process, the 'checkpoint 8 date' is one that isn't specifically listed. PRODLST makes a lot more sense and seems more in concrete.

Beamer,
Obviously, the time between checkpoint 8 and ONVESL, has some variability, but mine went from checkpoint 8 on April 13, to ONVESL on April 27. It is scheduled to be in Brunswick May 15. Since you are also on the east coast, this timeline may give you an idea as to when to expect the car. These next two weeks are going to crawl by, I'm afraid.

Thanks JMAGOLAN. I've been wating for this car since December. I made a couple of changes to my order, you know options, so it delayed it a bit. I had a March build and April delivery but my dealer messed-up. I found out in a roundabout way that it did not have a March C2S allotment so my build was pushed to April. Based on your time table, my car should be ONVESL May 11. Since my dealer is about 27 miles away from the port in Baltimore, I should have my car shortly after you get yours. My salesguy professes to have an inside track at the port. We'll see.
