Just saw it on the news. The owner went to Golds Gym in Redondo Beach sometime around 3am. The thief was watching and entered the gym with a guess pass. The thief then followed the owner into the locker room. As the owner was back out on the gym floor, the thief tore the door off the (wood) locker and took the keys and then the car.

And that is the very reason I keep my keys with me at ALL times at the gym. I went to another gym with a friend and I couldn't beleive my eyes when I walked in there was a huge board right there in the entrance area with hooks (like a valet has) that had probably a hundred sets of keys. I asked my buddy and he said that's where people store their keys while working out. All you have to do is follow someobody in, watch which hanger they put their keys on, and VOILA, new car for you. Couldn't believe the blind faith some people have.

Sure it is the same where you are but here in the UK we have various tracker systems which most expensive cars have(usually a mandatory requirement of the insurance companies). If a car is stolen even with the key you are able to track the exact location remotely and even in some cases turn the engine off remotely too.Quite expensive but worth every penny if your car is stolen/hijacked.

Happened to my friend, the etiquette at his gym was to throw your keys in the corner of the room, someone took his, a BMW, and stole his car. Always keep your valuables with you.
