Default OT: Valentine 1 Owners Only

I apologise for this one but figure I'll get a quicker and better answer here,--if you have and use a Valentine 1 detector,--do you ever notice how HOT that case seems to get? I'm not talking about IR rediation from the sun while sitting in the front window,--I'm talking about heat that the unit generates. I amazes me how HOT it gets. Will get a surface temp on it soon so that I can eliminate any subjectiveness in this.

TIA,

Dan

I have a Valentine 1. While it gets warm, I have not noticed that it ever got "hot".

They get hot. The case is magnesium so it will be worse than alumimum in conveying heat to your hand; perhaps this Mg case makes it seem ungodly hot for electronics? I have one in a closed hidden case ( a custom-designed fake visor) and it gets REAL hot but works fine year after year.

I live in Orlando - V1 stays mounted in the windshield year round. Hot would be an overstatement. Warm to the touch is more accurate. Warmer in the summer but not hot due to direct sunlight and ambient temp.

I've had one for years and while I agree it gets warm, I wouldn't say hot. You can always send it back to Valentine for a check up. In fact, I'm sending mine back for the POP upgrade. I've been putting it off because I hate to be without it.
