"My car is always buzzing, clicking, humming when parked. I have no idea what it's doing either."
I woke up around 3 a.m. the other morning and heard strange noises coming from the garage. I went to investigate and the garage lights and the P-car lights & flashers were on, the CD was playing loudly, everything was buzzing and clicking and humming.
I just assumed it was communicating with the "Mother Ship" and I left it alone and went back to bed.
I guess it "could" have been a dream though.

Is there any way to have the dealer reset the programming to prevent this objectionable relocking? This "advanced feature" is a real nuisance.

dweiser - Oh man, you got a MALE Porsche. You can tell because of the buzzing, clicking and late night parties! But, it COULD be worse, you could have gotten a FEMALE Porsche. Like their human counter-parts, they get demanding and cranky…. and have their own version of PMS, it's called… RMS!

I'd keep an eye on the autolock to see if it happens again. My '99 996 C2 used to mysteriously roll down the driver side window during the day - randomly. It didn't happen very often, so I thought perhaps I'd not rolled the window up or something. In the end, it turned out that I had a bad window motor controller. The parking alarm used to go off in my 7-series Bimmer in a similarly random way. It wasn't until I was standing next to the car and the alarm went off without any external inputs that I realized that something was wrong. Once again, it turned out to be bad electronics.

Did it a second time with me standing next to it. Quick trip to dealer indicated battery was significantly discharged. New battery and back to dealer next week for full check-up.

You guys are scaring me - I always leave the keys in the car so I won't have to look around for them!

Do you leave the keys in your front door at home, too?

Nope, never use the front door except for visitors.

Well, I think that's a good idea. This way when the P-car locks itself, you'll know that the car AND the keys are safe!

I NEVER leave my keys in the car. When I am not driving the car, my keys are in one of two places, either in my pocket or in their designated place in the bedroom. That way I always know where they are!

I guess I didn't get the self-locking option with my car. But thanks for the tip anyway on how to not lose keys! I'll try and remember that when I grow up.

You got it. This car can lock itself because the servos and actuators are central computer controlled; you know how easily your PC can do strange things? Same with car nowadays.
