Default torque junkie

I'm sick. I have the Club Coupe, 381 bhp and 304 lbs of torque, but it's still not enough. Even though it's a kick in the *** to drive I think I want the 997TT simply because of the pin you in your seat touque. Am I wrong to desire that amount of power? I want to know the thoughts of other forum members.

the desire will never stop so try to find satisfaction at one point because once you get thee 997tt you will then get used to that power and just want more and the vicious cycle will never end....well at least until you run out of cash.

My current 997S is going in for a trade when the kinks (if any) are worked out of the new model year Turbo. Not at all wrong to get one if you can afford it (obviously); it's still "just a car." If it had 800 supercar HP then maybe things would start getting absurd. That's my us$.02

That is the one thing I am fearing by selling my Kleemann modified E55 in favor of the 997 S. I was putting down about 650 lb/ft of torque and about 600 HP. I'm hoping the much more involved drive will outweigh that one area where the E55 has very few equals.

I did take a pretty extensive test drive in a 997 S and was very surprised how hard the car pulled. The fact that it weighs about 1,000 lbs less than the E55 doesn't hurt, either!!

Wow - we both have Club Coupes and the same initials... Kinda wierd...

So - unless you are drag racing or driving on some big tracks with monster straights do you really think you need more power - or I guess I'm asking - do you really feel you can handle what you have?

Our cars on a track are pretty darn nice as are and very capable of getting past a 996 GT3 (of course the new 997 GT3 might be another story)..

Just curious why you need more torque?

seriously, how can you set a number at when hp becomes absurd?
and you don't even mention relative to weight.
i'm sure any number of people would find the tt hp absurd

I live at a 5000 foot elevation. The thinner air robbs the car of the torque that you feel closer to sea level, about a 14% power loss. With forced induction the torque is right there. I guess I just want that powerful pulling feeling.

Don't get me wrong I love the Club Coupe. I'm not sure I could part with it.

Can you drive what you have at it's limits?
Where are you gonna use 'more' torque/power?

A silly slipery slope IMHO

You need the space shuttle if you want REAL torque!

Now THAT'S some serious slap you back into the seat torque!

Perhaps someone should start a Torqueaholics Anonymous program...

In the everyday world, even a Mazda Miata can be a fun drive. Opps! Was that my outside voice that just said that?

Nahhh, torque is meaningless on the shuttle, and on any reaction-propulsion driven arcraft (jet, rocket). It's acceleration, acceleration, acceleration which translates to ft per sec per sec.

And one might be called an Acceleration Addict who suffers badly from the need for speed per unit of time.
